Rommel's Greif Command Halftrack (1 Viewer)

I know Conte had problems getting rights to make personality figures for his sets. Kirk Douglas gave ok with a donation to his charity for Viking figure but Charlton Heston wanted big bucks so Conte made a generic figure for Ben Hur.I don't know when Conte is releasing his western set but had John Wayne and I think Yul Brenner figure. Have not heard anything about it lately. Don't understand now why model companies have to pay for rights on plane and other models that taxpayers paid for. John

K&C UK is looking at a lot of pre ordered items for this new range. So it is going to go very well. Please all bear in mind also that this usually creates interest in the older (on stock) Ak items and increases your 2nd price on the old AK stuff.

I talked to Tim at www.troopsoftime.com in Jacksonville,Fl. today, he said the Rommel piece is selling out quickly and the field gun and transport are also going quite well. He also thought, like Tony, that these pieces would create renewed interest in the AK line and that existing sets may start selling out.

Fred

I think that's a good thing because the AK and EA sets are really top rate. Wouldn't surprise me if the retired Matilda shoots up in price. I also think having the Figarti Honey doesn't hurt either.

I don't care the 'shoots up in price' of my Mathilda, don't touch her, I love her:D

Pierre.

I passed on the Matilda because there were so many other pieces I was interested in. I kind of regret that now.

Thanks for the heads up on that one. I'll have a look at it. My 8th army are missing a tank and could do with the support.

Mind you i don't think the Matilda will last long against the PanzerIII and Panzer IV i have arriving soon to reinforce the DAK. :)

Easy, when your Panzer III and IV arrive, would you give me your opinion on them ( cmpletely unbias of course;) )? If I like the Rommel piece, and I'm sure I will, I'll have to consider adding more AK pieces, much to my wife's chagrin.:D

Thanks, Fred

Fred,

You need to get those. It's shocking to me that those piece haven't been retired. When they do retire, they will do well in the after market.

Fred,

Go for them right now, do not hesitate or you will regret it. I completely share the opinion of Brad.

Pierre.

Thanks Pierre and Brad, I know you guys know what you're talking about and appreciate the advice. Besides, at $89 apiece they're a bargain, guess I knew all along, but was trying in vain not to spend my way into poverty.

I'm hoping they'll arrive today. Tony at K&C UK said he'd dispatched them yesterday so fingers crossed.

I had to tell my wife to expect a parcel, and to say she was not best pleased would be an understatement. :(

Edited update!

The box has arrived! Now i just need to escape from work early. It is Friday afternoon after all.

Eazy, you need to have those sent to work. That's what I do now. What with all the K & C you have, she'll never know if you slip another tank or two in.

That's pretty slick Brad, but if she gets a hold of that credit card statement first you better make yourself comfortable on the couch.:D

Fred

Dude, that's why I sell stuff on ebay so I can pay right out of my pay pal account.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh! Nicely done, Brad. My problem with paypal is giving them a bank account number after your initial $2000 worth of credit, or whatever the amount is, runs out. Can't get by that bank account number thing, besides can't the wife still get a hold of the bank statement and murder you in your sleep.

Fred

Yes, they want the bank account but if you don't have a positive balance built up in your paypal account when you have to pay, you can have it deducted from your bank account or credit card. They try to get you to do the bank account but you can do the cc.

Thanks for the info, Brad. Problem is the positive balance thing, I don't sell anything on ebay, I'm just a spender:eek:

Fred,

For me, selling my excess non soldier stuff is a must as I need to defray what I spend on K & C. You'd be surprised what you have around the house that people want. For example, an old girlfriend years ago gave me this 2 volume memoirs of Grant published in the 1880s. I would have been happy with $50. Heck, I got $180. That was great. Another good one was a Mr. Mets watch I won when I was 14 when I stumped Bill Mazer, a sports show host in New York and one of the most knowledgeable guys around. I sold it on ebay for $300. I was amazed. So you never know.

Brad;

You make a great point, selling unwanted stuff to buy K&C makes a lot of sense. To be honest with you, I have given some thought lately to putting some of my diecast model car collection up for sale, you know, Franklin and Danbury Mint, Exoto, Revell, Exact Detail, etc and some 1:43 scale stuff. Problem is I'm still in the Stone Age computer-wise, we have a new Dell, but no digital camera or scanner and I have extremely limited computer skills, one of them old dogs you can't teach new tricks to.:D Maybe I can get my nephew to give me a hand, he works in the compute field while I'm just out in left field!
