Rorke's Drift - Zulu War (2 Viewers)

Ken the new zulu stuff looks incredible. I think those are best looking zulus I have seen yet.
Is that house and furniture a future release or was that just made for the display of the figures?

Could this be my return to collecting Britains? These are so tempting that I might just do so!!

Hello Tim,
The house/hospital is part of this series. There is also a military accessory set of ammo boxes, barrels, mealee bags, trunk, cracker boxes, sack with bucket and pick axe. The hospital has some interior furnishings with it including a soldiers sick bed, a wall clock, shelf, cupboard and a stocked pantry in the kitchen. There is a hospital/house accessory set that consists of parlour stove, stove plate and coal hod, upholstered chair, work table, foot stool, secretary, immigrants trunk & large kitchen table. The furnishings by themselves would also be great for any ACW or later 19th century war debris. Later releases will include further accessories and scenics.
Hope you enjoy,
All the best,
Ken

Hi Ken,

The New Zulu War sets are great!

I received my flyer and Standard the other day so I have been having all sorts of fun looking them over. If I wasnt so focused on another series I would be very torn on what to start with! I will say that I am really thrilled by your work and hope to see this amazing ability turned loose on the Durbar Elephant procession which is a very fertile ground for you since there were only 166 elephants in the openning procession:rolleyes:

Great work and do have a very nice Thanksgiving!

All the best

Dave

Only 166 elepthants! Dave - this sounds really good but not sure it has enough long term potential - I mean heck, Ken could whip those 166 out in a few weeks - then what would we do??? Ha ha. Needless to say - it is very very tempting - but please buy a few Zulu sets so we can justify getting into Delhi Durbar - if that's not blackmail I don't know what is!

Seriously though - thank you for the kind comments - everyone who has posted.

Hello All,
Thought I would post another unpublished picture of the Zulu War Rorkes Drift Hospital. Research shows that the soldiers beds were made from planks set up on bricks (and not bunk beds like we have been lead to believe). These were most likely made more tolerable with army issue mattress ticks and blankets. This image is of an unfortunate soldier cornered in one of the end storerooms while another soldier makes good his escape through a hole cut in one of the interior, unfired clay brick walls. Please note that our model is of the house/hospital from the front to just past the center ridge line. The rear section of the house should follow later next year. Hope you enjoy.
Wishing all of you a very Happy Thanksgiving!

Those are great Zulu figures. Teh best I have seen. Just one issue though when it comes to interior exterior type buildings it is difficult because you cannot display both sides at once. I have the Trophy La Haye Sainte and the original Britains Gates of Hougomot and the problem is that you cannot display both the soldiers inside and the attacker at the same time in a way that you can see both groups.
It looks like you might have overcome this with the way you have set up your display in the photo shoot.
I look forward to the flyer which should be with me this week.
Congratulations on a wonderful series
Damian

Your dealer says, "Buy two so you can see both sides." :D I'm sure that's what they told me...

Thanks for adding the photo Ken, I'm hoping the figure crawling through the hole in the wall isn't attached I've got additional plans for him. Hope you and Ericka get a chance to relax and enjoy your Thanksgiving day and thank you for giving us Zulu War collectors something to be additionaly thankful for. Take care and be well..... The Lt.

Hi Joe! The pies (pumpkin) are in the oven and the Turkey is thawing!
The figure crawling through the wall is not attached but is part of set # 20008 which are the three figures featured in this image. Notice that these figures do not use bases and even the Zulu has brick and wood debris as his 'base'. I designed the crawling figure so he could be used going through the wall between the storage room and the parlor, or through the holes that will be in the other building sections produced later, on the roof tops, in wagons or on mealee bags...so what were your plans for using him?
Ken

Ken -

I am very impressed with these figures, especially the Zulus. They are some of the best African figures I've seen. Very realistic!

Hi Ken,

How will the Zulu War series be packaged? Will it be boxed or the new clam shell packaging? BTW, great figures to say the least!

Steve

All of the above Ken from time to time to include climbing a ladder on to the storehouse roof as Private Hitch reaching the top and calling down to Lt. Bromhead that he could see the many body of the Zulu impi. Enjoy the pies and the day.....Joe

Hi Steve!
As far as packaging, my understanding is that we will continue to use boxes on multi figure sets and special figures that would not travel or display well in a clamshell. Single figures are doing very well in the clamshell packaging and are very point-of-purchase friendly so plan on seeing many of our series offering this style of packaging.

The RD set from Modelzone has arrived at the retailer yesterday and will start shipping over the folowing days. Just got a email after asking about it.

Ken/Richard; is there any pic of the glossy zulus you can share with us?
I still didn't receive the flyer.

Hello!
Here is the Zulu War Glossy releases. Sorry that we don't have better images for you but these are the only pictures of the glossies that we have. Hope it helps ease the wait until your flyer and Standard arrive.
