Hi All Treefrogger's,

I need a little help/knowledge with a diorama my son has asked me to make him for his brittian's figures.

He would like Rorke's drift set up with the church and store on one side and a bit of the kraal walls, the problem I am having is any painting or dioramas I have seen do not have the church in them.

Yet when we watch the movie Zulu for reference the church backs right up to the other building, is this correct or did the church not exist.

Thank you in advance Matt.

Hi, this is the correct layout of the 2 buildings at the mission station and the former trading post of James Rorke. Hope this helps. Robin.

Hi Matt

Back in the 1990's JG Miniatures made a set of the 4 buildings shown in the movie "ZULU". They were based on the movie buildings and not on any buildings shown in contemporary photos and drawings of Rorke's Drift in 1879. I'm lucky to own a set, they seem quite hard to find now and are no longer in the JG catalogue.

Great dio Robin :salute::

Cheers

Martyn:)

Thanks Robin & Martyn,

I think will scratch build something similar to Robyn's set-up, it was just the church that was throwing me.

I will show my your set-up tonight and if that's the way he want's to go.

Great set up Robin !! Who makes the figures on the roof?

Those 2 on the roof are Britain's, but in some of my earlier setups i was using Conte. Robin.

A treat to view. I like the smoke effect from the rifles and also the calm cows chewing the cud as all hell rages around them :smile2:

Wow, thanks AC for bringing forward one of my older posts, Zulu has waned a little for me while waiting for Britain's to release new items, but it remains set up on a table tennis table waiting for my passion to be rekindled. Robin.

Robin...
I saw this a year ago and was really impressed...
on second look...
I'm totally dazzled...
this is one of the best Rorke's Drifts I have ever seen...
great job...
awesome collection...
is it a permanent display?

Nice comments Mike. Yes it remains set up and covers an entire table tennis table, depicting both battles on that fateful day. Could use a couple of the long awaited Britain's rocket sets to trigger my interest again. Robin.
