Rumors, Rumors, and Rumors (1 Viewer)

That reminds me, what ever happened to "King & Country King-Sized", the big vehicle sets Andy was supposed to release each Christmas? That was supposed to be definite as of the Boston Toy Show last summer.

Nice! And these are Lionel "O" gauge (or 1/48 scale), correct?
N-P

Yes they are O scale purchased at a TCA meet quite a few years ago.

If I'm not mistaken this is before King & Country was on the scene.

Just happened to catch my eye.

If you guys think toy soldier collectors are obsessive, you should meet some model railroad guys. They make us soldier guys look like amatuers when it comes to investment and dedication of household space. Its a wonder any of them are still married or sane. I think their population is larger than ours; they are every where. I used to be one and every month or so, the urge begins to come upon me to start again. Especially when I see things like NJJA's loco. I love the steam/diesel era of the 1940's and 1950's. Especially the brass steam locomotives. One of those babies costs about as much as 10 to 15 K&C sets at the low-end. May have to give in one of these days and do both. First.....how much money is in that bank downtown?

Yes you are correct, the last time I checked there were nearly 40,000

members of the Train Collectors Association. They have a meet in York

Penn. twice a year that is wonderful. People come from all over the world

to attend, and you can find almost anything you are looking for there.

There is big difference between the TLC and Model Railroaders. They both have very large memberships and spend a large amounts of money on this hobby. I speak for myself I modeled UK Railroads in OO scale (HO track gauge). My hands & eyes went and I could no longer do the close detailed work. So I had to give it up.
I saw a layout in England while visiting a friend. This OO scale was of the German Eastern Front trying to withdraw to west under fire.. It was a work of love and was going to placed on display.

The English build layout they can take apart and carry to shows to display under their club name. Keith my friend build one and named after me. He calls it Harris Yard it has buildings on it named Nancy's Kitchen (my wife), Nick's Computers, Carole's Cookies (my grandson & daughter) The Yard Switcher on this layout is automated so it does its thing by it self.

He plans to do a D-Day Seaport rail loading in G Scale soon. I'm looking forward to seeing it.

I agree about York. Being a TCA member and living only 20 minutes away makes for at least 2 weeks of my year dedicated to attending that show.....Michael

Ok, so I am one of the train guys (HO) scale. 40 Engines - 350 Freight Cars - 200 Containers - 150 Trailers - Buildings - Track etc. The only problem is, I can see I am getting hooked on this soldier stuff, and a lot of my trains are finding their way to Ebay to finance this new hobby. Ever since I was a kid I was always into Trains and Soldiers. I sold $1500 worth of trains in the past few weeks, and it looks like King and Country will be a few dollars richer in the next few days..............Alex

If you think it's hard to pay for all the new K&C releases, to catch-up with the older ones, and to still collect trains, what would it be like if a train manufacturer began to make WWII train sets in 1/30?

We could have trains and soldiers together. Imagine a Soviet steam locomotive with Stalin's private cars behind or a line of flat cars with T-34's on the way from the relocated factories east of the Urals to the front. Or the German amoured trains that would run through occupied Russian looking for trouble. Ah, what a wonderful world that would be. But the amount of money you would need to do it justice would be, in simple terms, a lot. Still, it's nice to dream.;)

Speaking of German armored trains check this diorama out:

Ray,

That diorama is as good as it gets. If K&C did one of those armored trains it would be to cool for words.

Hi Guys,

Boy oh boy, don’t I wish I could do something as big and as bold as this tremendous piece of modelling. It’s absolutely fabulous.

What I can and am doing as I write is work on a whole bunch of great winter German stuff that will be released in September. Hopefully in time for the Chicago Show. I don’t believe most of you will be disappointed.

Best wishes and…happy collecting!

Hi Andy,

I just purchased the last sets I needed to complete my collection of the Battle of the Bulge Germans. I want to make certain that I own the complete line and I wanted to be prepared for the releases you have planned for September. The figures are great!

Do you have plans to release any more Battle of the Bulge Americans in the near future? If so, there are some sets I need to acquire to make certain I own all of BoB Americans. However, I hope there will be some lag time between the release of the new Germans and the introduction of new Americans as my pocket book can stand to be renewed.

It goes without saying that I look forward to the new figures, especially since I now own all seven sets of the Germans.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat

I agree with you Pat, the Germans in this series are really well done and the AFV's (especially the Tiger) are GREAT. I have yet to start on the Americans, it's the last series I have to get of all the current lines. Those American soldiers look like they are really well done also. And, you are correct, I need a breather too. I love this stuff.

Hi Michael,

I agree, the Battle of the Bulge figures and vehicles are outstanding. I wish I could add the sets I do not yet have more quickly, but, alas, I must pay attention to my bank account.

When you say you have all the other current lines complete, I am assuming you are referencing the WW II lines. If you really mean all the current lines, I am really, really impressed!

In addition to Battle of the Bulge, I also collect the Ancient Egyptians. In both cases, I think I will be able to secure all the figures in these lines before any are retired. However, "economic breathers" are important for me to keep up to date with these sets.

Warm regards,

Pat

I am looking through all of my stuff to see what I can stand to part with next on Ebay (Trains - 1/6 Scale stuff etc). The first K&C order will be tomorrow, it looks like heavy on the Bulge and some other assorted stuff. Pound per Pound this hobby seems to be more expensive than Trains or 1/6 Scale military figures. You can't take it with you, but my boys may still like it....
