Hi, all!

Russian painter Olga Kropotova posted her video to YouTube, showing her process to paint a 54mm Samurai Lady, free-hand:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMplJaODwc8

It's a long video, but whether you're a painter or just a collector, you'll be amazed as the final product emerges.

It also helps understand why Russian pieces cost what they do-it's the talent and the skill that go in to the resulting figure.

Hat tip to Dr. Joe Salkowitz for sharing the video!

Prost!

Truly amazing, watched several times...my 5 year old was inspired and after watching it wanted to draw something. thank you!

Olga is a true master. She’s the daughter of Tatiana Gapchenko, who is the queen bee and owner of Nevskaya Miniatura.
If you look in my thread, my Burmese was elephant was painted by Olga. (There also might be a new figure on a boat coming over from Russia as we speak) 😀

If you click on her icon at the top left of the video, you are linked to her homepage where there are other painting videos!!!

I run out of superlatives when I try to explain Olga Kropotova's talent. She's just otherworldy. In December she entered two pieces into a competition in Sevres (near Paris). She entered a bust in the open category that she sculpted from scratch of a Japanese woman with her dragon and won gold with it. The other piece she brought with her, a Siam elephant, took gold in the open historical category and also was recognized with a Grand Prix (Best of Show)!!
She's just on another level entirely. Here's a 54mm piece she painted for me. It just arrived last week.

Joe that is stunning! She shared it on Facebook and I was wondering who the lucky collector would be!

Thank you Zach! I'm glad you like it! :smile2: We had a lot of fun discussing the piece, and she brought it to life better than I ever could have imagined!
