I couldn't find the post, but someone pointed out a few weeks or so ago that 2006's batch of American Bulge figures appeared to be 1/32 compared to 1/30 for the 2005 releases. I finally made my first purchases of the 2006 sets and see what he's talking about. I might not have noticed it had I not read his post. Anyway, can someone who already got the newest releases tell me how what scale they are?

I have kept out of this so far because it doesn't really move, however it seems to be the right room for an argument:rolleyes:

The key for me is the correct scale of metal bits, more than the people who come in a wide range a sizes anyway, for example, my youngest was too big to get in a Chieftan (tough, he had to ride on the roof with his legs in the hatch:D) but the crew came up to his chest. What was the height of the average squaddy in WW2? 63 inches in the British army and 72 plus in the ANZACS by all accounts.

As long as the guns and vehicles fit does it matter?

One minor problem - while people come in all sizes, certain things don't change. The US helmet's outer shell was one size (with a few MINOR variations) through it's production life. Look at photos of the ARVN troops wearing US 'steel pots". Also, rifles and other personal gear don't change sizes.

Personally, the photos make me think that the .30 M1919A4 being carried in "Moving Up" looks a bit oversize, but the set is SO cool that I am willing to overlook that and enjoy the poses. (Funny how I overlook that and whine about all the minutae of the tanks and vehicles).

Gary, agree completely, the guns and other metal bits should be the same size, within normal varibility where that was catered for.

I'd like to see that as well. I understood that Andy said K & C would stick to 1/30 with the WWII figures, surely he didn't fib to us

Personal preferences...I like to see them closer to 1/32 but then again I mix both scales together when ever possible.

Like sceic2 (Michael) mentioned on another post, I mix all manufacturer's products to achieve the theme I'm envisioning in my diorama.

It may not be pure but its fun and frankly I'm usually the only one looking at them anyway.

Hi all,

I do prefer 1/30 scale for all my WW2 figures... Why ? More metal for the same price, better sculpting, more details could be added, etc.. The 1/30 don't carry any negative aspects.. The only one would be in fact the compatibility with other 1/32 figurines... But I'm planning to stick to King and Country's for my WW2 for the next years of collecting IF and only IF they stick to 1/30 scale. In fact, I became so picky during the last months that I take out my ruler at the shop and get only those figurines which are closer to the 1/30 scale and not the 1/32... :)

My 2 cents,

Alex

I agree, to me gun and vehicle size is more of an issue rather than variations in figure size. However there are a few collectors here that don't want K & C to stray from 1/30 in the WWII range and they had been assured this wouldn't happen.

As for perceived differences in accuracy etc between 1/32 and 1/32, personaly I can't see that there is much difference these days compared to earlier figures. The technology seems to have progressed enough to allow excellent detail on the smaller figures as the crusaders etc have amazing detail even though they are closer to 1/32.

Hmmmm.....you could be right on the 1/32 thing Oz. I need to have another look at my Crusader figures before I completly agree though. Do any other collectors feel that they are closer to 1/32 than 1/30?

Best Regards
H

I did read somewhere on the forum that they were 1/32 but having seen a whole bunch of them in the flesh on the weekend you couldn't really tell unless you placed them next to a 1/30 WWII figure.
