I just think you should cut Alex some slack to be honest as he was a fire fighter on 911 and should be shown some respect as when it mattered he did his duty for his country . Just my personal opinion

I appreciate your support Neil ( Hey I have one friend...Its a start :salute::)....There is some intangible problem here. When I have an opinion on something .........it is over the top ...

I have seen huge violent discussions on various topics and when it is over everyoneyone licks their wounds and and goes back to their corners.

When I am passionate about a topic................ I get called on the carpet.

I will not defend myself anymore against the charges brought against me...Because if I do then I am the martyr. So I am basically caught in a catch 22

Nothing more I can say.

Continue to take all of the shots you want............pile it on.......I sleep very well at night and I can look my aging face in the mirror when I shave.

In the end all, it is just Toy Soldiers and they don't matter much in the total scope of life.

I am enjoying the hobby very much as of late I am learning a lot of skills from the friends I DONT have and I feel as though my work is getting better, thanks to the friends I DONT

have. So all is good here.

By the way BATTLEGROUND ART is not a company it was formed at my expense to assist collectors / modelers with questions on diorama building and a place to promote the hobby as a whole. ( Sounds evil doesn't it )

Hey George you enjoying this !

Alex ,

i believe we all understand your views on the hobby...You are entitled to have those views...ie xyz companies tank goes scale wise with abc companies infantry etc , etc...I believe everybody understands that...It is common knowledge to everybody how big or small this product is vs. that product...
I think everybody wants the freedom to collect what they like & combine how they like...What i have seen is that you like to beat people over the head with a stick with your idea because you believe it is best...If people don't succumb to your idea's i believe you have used the word children & refer to people as K&C lackey's so on & so forth...Is belittling people a valid way of voicing an opinion ?? Then when people fight back you fall behind the shroud of persecution & martyrdom , & believe you are being attacked for your beliefs...When everybody is actually the one's being attacked for their's...
I understand you were a fireman , i respect you for that...thank you for your service...My father was in charge of the Chicago PD gang tactical unit & is now retired as you are...Your post's remind me alot of his intensity as well...everyhting was his way or the highway & right or wrong...Very little "grey" area pardon the pun...
I think your diorama's are incredible & i believe everybody else on the forum does as well...i enjoy them immensely !! You are quite talented @ it...
I guess the point i am making is there are two side's to this...as in life...good discussion i love...being beat over the head with a club is not something anybody likes...

Hey George you enjoying this !
I see no reason Alex to bring George in this discussion as he hasn't hardly even commented ??? ...Sammy

I actually haven't commented on anything in this particular thread, I really don't have a dog in this fight, this discussion has more to do with personal preferences different collectors have.

I understand what Alex meant by his comment towards me, there is no animosity in it at all, it's all good, so no worries.

Different collectors look for different things in their toy soldiers is all...............

I appreciate your input, but I have gotten much more input in private, which is vastly different.

There are two sides.

Those private PMs constantly state that I am on a very different page than this forum or even this hobby as it stands right now ....... But I see my vision slowly coming around.

There is a simple answer here, which I guess is already happening.

You guys do your thing here and I am going to greatly lessen my participation. No beatings ............. just a pic or two here and there.

It is best for all of us.

I have been on several other forums over the years including the other one now, and I have had very few to no problems.

I have seriously looked over all recent discussion, and I will not take the blame for the hysteria that ensues. It is in black and white. Actually if you look at it others were the hysterical ones.

Those PM's consistently state that also.

So there is some kind of black hole here or something.

I spoil your fun and I dont want to do that.

I am personally really enjoying where I am in the hobby now, and this kind of ruins it for me also.

Imagine a BS thread like this with 1000 views...There are two sides.....Believe me.

Hey

I just got a few negative PMs....

What is cool is the common theme in the negative PM's is I Don't belong in the toy soldier hobby, don't try to change it. This is Toy Soldiers.

and the positives said the same thing, but they agree the hobby needs some changes.

I had been thinking about this a while back......1/72nd is really nice and they are like models....I am always attracted to them when I see them.

Less space too.....

I am going to look into it.

WOW I will have a lot of stuff to sell.

My First dio would be the Normandy invasion....with tons of landing craft ....Things happen for a reason.

I just may go for it.......I can envision a scene with 20 Tigers or huge US Red BAll convoys

EXCITING !

Making mountains out of mole holes is all this is. Alex has a vision of what he would like this hobby to be and I see nothing wrong with him expressing his thoughts and beliefs. Time and again I read post after post from different threads where those who were quick to JUDGE Alex have expressed their own opinions and thoughts on certain topics. Do I see them getting hammered like Alex, no way! If you take offense to the way Alex presents topics then simply do not read his posts, don't take his advice or critique and move on. He only presents his view. There is no one holding a gun to your head saying you have to conform to Alex beliefs. He doesn't control your money, credit cards etc.....so you don't have to worry about him making your purchases for you nor do I think Alex really gives a rip! What anyone buys with their own money. The scale issue was a valid concern that probably would have been brought up sooner or later. My only problem was that it should have been addressed in a different thread other then Sammys original FJ thread. Other then that this is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. A guy wants to talk about toy soldiers on a toy soldier forum and then gets chastised for it where the discussion leads to anything but talk about toy soldiers.

I believe that we have said what needs to be said. Therefore, this thread is now closed.
