Hi all. I am new to the forum, but have been searching for a few days now expecting to be able to find a thread on scenic backgrounds with little luck. Perhaps I am "thread challenged" or perhaps it just isn't here.

I am looking for long panoramic backgrounds, particularly of rolling hills, i.e., Waterloo. I realize that folks are probably heartily tired of the famed battle, but with years invested in developing a 54mm large scale diorama, I have yet to find anything vaguely appropriate for this landscape (hint hint scenic accessories manufacturers).

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

Welcome aboard!:) Jim Hillestad of the Toy Soldier Museum in the Pocanos (Pennsylvania, U.S.A.) sells scenic backdrops. He might have what you need. He has a website, I'm sure you can find him via google.

Nicholas, Ken & Ericka Osen (Hudson & Allen Studio) can be a big help in the diorama "how-tos" and they also have their own line of retail products. All of the diorama boards I am using for my ACW scenes were custom made for me by the Osen's.

Thanks all for your feedback. I'll look into all these options. JG has a Waterloo background, but much to small for my purposes and to strikingly unique to be be repeated and merged. I think this project may require some custom painting, and to that end Mike's suggestion re: Hudson and Allen may be a good one.

There does appear to be a clear need and market for quality large scale backgrounds of variying landscapes. I have seen some amazing dioramic results (especially in this forum) that would be so muh more enhanced by a quality background.

Perhaps it's time for me to dig up the camera and take a trip to Belgium! :)
