Steady Lad's, Steady.Discipline holding.
George , The childhood memories.
When i was perhaps 7 years old my Dad had me in the truck with him and we went to the tack and feed store. Always liked going there, lots of saddles, smelled of leather, creaky old floorboards and shelves filled with { Breyer?} Horses, cattle, 40 mule teams ,John Deer toys , Britain's stable plastics etc.
Got down to the end and looked up at the wall. There was a huge poster of WATERLOO. Highlanders in square up close, others in the background, Cavalry all over.Of course I had no idea what it was but my interest in the farm toys went to almost zero!

Nah, the Old Guard thing was entirely different. That was a case of a factory just producing figures that we hated, so we started over. For those of you who have received the recently released Old Guard figures, I think they're some of our best, so I hope you agree we made the right decision!

The figures that we personally have in our private collections that we haven't released yet are all painted in Russia, so you'd have to triple-quadruple our retail prices if you wanted them. We used to offer this is a service, but the overwhelming majority of collectors feel our production figures are good enough and a far better value in terms of price/quality than the same figures with Russian paint jobs on them. I tend to agree with them and even I wait for the production figures for my own collection now.

Hi Matt,
Is there any chance we could get a side by side Photo of a Russian painted figure and a production one ? I would be curious as to the difference in quality . If there is that much of a difference between the two ( which I doubt there is ) I may be interested in treating myself to one of my Favorite Figures . It would be cool to see one of the Masters you use as a model for the factory painters . I think it would be interesting to FL fans to see the process :) All the best Gebhard

It would be interesting to see indeed but he did say they USED TO offer this service so you may have to just buy more of the regulars as consolation.;):D

Hello,

You can see many photos of some original masters on our website in the gallery. They are usually labelled "masters". Our catalog images are only production figure images, never masters.

In regards to our production vs. master quality, we've been closing that gap considerably over the past year I'd say. If you look at the Old Guard group photo on our home page, there is one original master in the group shot, the rest are production figures. The quality is pretty much indistinguishable. For our WWII figures, I barely see any difference whatsover between production quality and master quality. It's there to the very trained eye, but for most people they woudn't notice the difference.

To truly appreciate the high level Russian painting (and our production figures for that matter) you really have to hold them in your hand. A photo only shows so much.
