Hi All,
I found this scottish piper figure in my grey army bin and tried to identify it. I think it was a Richard Newth Gibbs figure (lost the header) but could not identify the Scots regt. Helpful discussion with JB provided tantalizing clues but nothing definite. The tunic was unusual, single breasted without lace and unlike a doublet which led us to think pre 1855, but the blue bonnet headdress was not in any usual illustration of scottih pipers. So it was back to pleassant flipping thru cuttings from old magazines, references and presto! The details match those of the Scottish Horse Yeomanry.
I am now finalising it for painting as a toy figure.
The right arm was bent to fit the pipes. A new pipe was made from a steel nail. A new right hand was substituted. Cuffs were rebuilt. Cheeks were puffed up and beard added and later removed.
