What are the correct colors of the 2.5" rifled screw gun as used by the Gordon Relief Desert Column? TIA for any help.

Hi. These are the colours of the one exhibited in the RA Museum - dated 1879.

This link might also help provide some useful background to the weapon:

Good luck with your project jb

Thank you, JB! I want to paint up the AIP Gordon Relief because I really like these sets. I usually collect ACW and AWI so I don't know much about this period. I found internet info on the uniforms and camel equipment but was striking out on the screw gun - guess I wasn't looking in the right place. The project may take a while though - the wife has me busy with the "honey-do" list. Anyway, thanks again!

Pleasure chum. Have aread through that link - as it contains a specific reference to the screw-guns being used in 1884 - when the relief column was being attacked. The half-battery got off one round of shot - to great effect during that action.

Are you intending to paint up a gun - in parts - and being carried by camels? I have a set (RA crew - in India - being carried by mules). Very nice little set to paint up. For camels - keep an eye on Trophy and Little Legion posts - they will usually feature at some time there. All the best - jb = johnnybach.

PS - Wife - and jobs - go together, you're not alone!:D
