I think the current system works extremely well also and certainly provides a fine mix of internet and face to face exposure. There are numerous examples of such companies that are doing extremely well that way outside the figure industry so it is hardly a unique model, even for this type of product. What is unique is the detail and quality for the price. Whether their distribution system remains the same as they expand or not, as long as they deliver a comparable relative value, they will do extremely well IMHO.

Once you have those standard bearers in hand, you will really see how much better they are than most other similar offerings.

No doubt that George from Minuteman is a critical element of FL's marketing efforts. Even with admittedly no knowledge of their finanical arrangement, I suspect he may be grossly underpaid. :D

FL may well be successful with its direct distribution model. Its a very small industry, relatively speaking, where trade show appearances, trade publication advertising, word of mouth and other "viral marketing" may be able to largely do the job of a dealer network. If so, it may have implications for other manufacturers and their distirbution models. Be interesting to watch how it unfolds.
 
Things look a little different from an European point of view. Dealers are needed, no shows in my country, but I believe there are now a few reliable European dealers (Tm Terrain, Saimex, Hadriansvilla and a few others in Germany and France).;).
Much unlike Aeroart, no European dealers that I know of:(.
This is also important because of customs taxes, it it comes from the EU, no pay, if it comes from elsewhere, pay you must:D:(

In my opinion the sculpts are every bit as good as any from the Russian studios and I would rate the painting as approaching Aeroart level. There are some variances in the Aeroart figures too so it's difficult to speak in absolutes. They are still a few notches below the top figures from the high end Russian studios but as a value proposition FL are the best figures on the market IMO.

I had the opportunity (last year) to be one of the first outside FL crew to have in my hands some Stalingrad soldiers, while I was taking photos for the series launch last summer. What stroke me the most was the quality of the painting, I was speechless after I opened the box ‘‘wow they are so small but so well painted’. I have 4 Aeroart Romans, three of them are the same soldier, 5193 from 14th legion. The painting of FL for a mass production manufacture is as good of any connoisseur figurine from the Russians painters..

Congratulations on your purchase , I look forward to seeing what you think . Its always good to have someone new on the First Legion thread with whom to share our hobby . Id say I'm sure you'll be very satisfied , if you collect Matte finish English Napoleonic figures IMO you can't find better at this price . Happy collecting Gebhard

Sorry I assumed there was only one but now I see there are four in the UK alone. I'm sure there are fine commercial reasons why it is that way in the UK.

Received today my FL order
The 2 flag bearers the captain and the mounted officer
UNBELIVABLE AWSOME
Aeroart has nothing on First Legion except for the price and the size
I put the mounted officer next to the aeroart flag bearer of
Catherine the Great , aeroart are bigger figures
The painting is the same
To me KC is the best for collectors and FL is the best for connaisseurs
Now i have to order the soldiers (overtime)

Glad you enjoyed them mate. Really didn't think there was much chance you wouldn't.;) FWIW, I am simply a collector, albeit a picky one, and I think FL is just fine for me.:cool:
