See Andy, it could be done! (1 Viewer)

What about a U-Boat Coffee table?? I think that could start a whole new K&C furniture line :D

We also suggested a German E-boat which would be much smaller than the U-boat.

If you really want K&C to make you the conning tower and a portion of the deck of a U-Boat or an E-Boat, why not commission Gordon Neilson of K&C dioramas to build it for you? I'm fairly certain that a conning tower with say a foot of deck on either side would be an affordable diorama. If it came in under $1000, I would buy one myself. If maybe 10+ of these were ordered, then we could start working on Andy for a limited edition set of U-Boat crewmen.

I built my own in 1/72 scale which is about 3 feet. The kit was on sale for $35 and the figures were $10. I'm having an issue of where to put it so imagine a 1/30 scale sub.

Imagine just the conning tower (about 1 foot wide in 1:30 scale I would think) set in the middle of two flat one foot long sections of deck, just the area within the chains or railings or whatever they are. Maybe The 88mm on the deck could be the very front of the diorama, with the conning tower all the way in the rear, rather than in the middle. The whole thing would be three foot long, by less than a foot wide, with the conning tower maybe 18 inches tall. I would bet it could be made by Gordon for say $500, maybe $750. Treating it as a diorama rather than an entire ship would make it both small enough for display and affordable to produce.

I would be interested.

Wow - I could get into owning that!

Ron :D

I think I would even attempt to make a conning tower but the major setback is that there is no figures for it. :(

Again, once we demonstrated to Andy that a U-Boat diorama was not just do-able but in demand, I'm pretty sure we could convince him to do one set of say a U-Boat commander and 3-4 more deck crew, and maybe a second set of deck crew operating the 88mm. Finally, to complete the diorama, perhaps the victims of a sunken merchant ship in a lifeboat. Let me know who is interested and if I get more than ten firm commitments, I will approach the subject with Andy and Gordon at the Symposium.

I'm interested. How about Gunther Prien and the U-47 used in Scapa Flow?

I also would be interested depending on cost, though to be honest 500-750's probably out of my range.

Alright, count me in IF the cost can be held within reason (whatever the H:eek: that is), man this hobby's expensive!
