Hi y'all,

I've been watching for this set to turn up for years now with no joy, so I figure it might be worth a try to post a want ad here.

What I seek is a re-paint of set 50 that was done for the Toy Soldier Gallery in NY., USA.
These are different than the original set 50 as they are depicted in tan "summer tunics".

I will attempt to upload a photo of the set I am looking for here: (fingers crossed, as I am not having much luck uploading photo files lately)
Okay, well, that didn't work, but I suppose any of you that might have this set available for sale will already know what it looks like.

Anyway, please drop me a PM if you happen to have this set. If you need pictures to verify that yours is the set I am seeking, let me know and I will email you some pics.

Cheers and thanks in advance,
Drum

Honestly, Drum, I was wondering whether you could enlighten me/us on the different versions of the Bengal lancers. I tried to get matching sets of officer and cavalry, but I think I failed. Pictures are probably necessary. My collection of bengals is a little disjointed I am afraid - but I am not even sure I know what I am looking at or what I am looking for to bring balance to the Force.

Hey Andanna,
Happy to try and help you sort those.

From your picture;

Clockwise from upper left: You have set 50a (6th Bengal Cavalry) along with officer 51b (1st Bengal cavalry), note the difference in turban colors and the officer's tunic is more yellow than tan.

Then you have set 50/51 (13th Bengal Lancers) in the upper right.

Lower right, you have sets 50d/51d (30th Bengal Lancers) in their green tunics. Yes, the officer's turban in this set is slightly different than his troopers as you can see.

Lower left, you have what appears to be sets 50c/51c (4th Bengal Cavalry) but the troopers turbans appear very different than the original Imperial Productions version, which are usually predominantly black with wide yellow and narrow blue stripes, just like the officer's turban. Otherwise, they look identical to the original set 50. Not sure if those are repaints or what happened there. Is the turban paint glossy?

So, it looks like all you need to complete the standard Bengal sets is set 50b (to match your officer upper left) and set 51a, to lead those troopers (that are currently with the officer from 51b.)

Hope this helps. Thanks for the reply.

Cheers,
D

PS: The troopers that I am seeking have the turbans (and box label) of set 50 at upper right but also the tunics of the troopers in set 50a (upper left)

Thank you so much for your answer. This is exactly what I was looking for.

I apologize for hijaking the thread and wish you all the best for your search for that elusive set.

Love imperials Bengal lancers! I have one set of troopers. Need to find more. I haven’t seen any for a while on eBay but they do pop up every now and then. I will let you know if I see any.

Okay, I think I finally figured out how to upload a photo from my HD.

NY Special sm.JPG

Behold, this is Imperial Productions set 51, the officer to my long sought after special repaint of set 50 made for the Toy Soldier Gallery in NY. The chaps I seek look just like this guy, same light blue/black turban, same dapper "summer" tunics in tan as the charmer in the pic above. From what I have been able to gather, there were perhaps ten of each of these sets made.

Thanks again for reaching out if you have this set available.

Cheers,
Drum

This is a bit confusing, but here is a photo of the labels on sets 50A, 50B, 50C, and 50D and their respective officer sets 51A, 51B, 51C, and 51D.
