Hey guys,

I couldn't find a similar topic, but if there is I appologise!

Just thought it would be great to have a thread for people to post their latest projects or pieces and for others to provide constructive criticisms and the like!

Here is mine:

My first go at painting in almost 8 years... Have alot to learn!!! Hopefully that 'steady hand' will build up :)

Nice job, Nathan, not bad for an eight year layoff! ;) And it's always a tough decision on how to represent the plaid, especially in the toy soldier style, how much detail and color to include. Looks good!

Who made the figure?

Prost!

Nathan,
You are a professional painter, look at the quality! Now that NCO needs some private to go along with him for a full Company of 79th Foot! Get Crackin'!
Merry Christmas!

Mate that is phenominal!! Well done!!! The face especially! What technique do you use when painting faces?

I'm working on a French Chasseur Cheval!! I feel your pain!! Be sure to post when you're done :)

I converted and repainted these Del Prado figs. for my ambulance crew. The doctor was originally an SS Mountain officier and the 2 attendents wereCabo Inf. from the Spanish civil war. The stretcher was scratch built and I cut off the base and leg at the knee of the crew guy for the new model army scout car for the casualty

That is a fantastic job!!! Very creative with the stretcher!

How did you get the red-cross vests on the troops?

The vest are actually made from one of the 2-part epoxy putty products that I flattened and trimmed to size and applied. I really like the stuff for sculpting, it's very manageable and doesn't set fast and stays in place, giving plenty of time to adjust and change.
I used thin brass cut with scissors for the straps but paper would have worked just as well. The stretcher is brass rods with the same product laid between and also the pillow.

That is very creative!! Great idea with the putty too!

How I love holidays!

I always thought the cavalry men wearing a pelisse and dolman like that were Hussars.

A jacket like that is just for show correct; not for actual wear?

I do believe they wore them in combat, though I could be mistaken.

They were never actually adorned, only ever drapped over the shoulder with a gold chain around the neck holding it in place.

Thank you for the kind comments :)

It is indeed beautiful work; you could quit your day job for sure.
From my sources, the pelisse could be worn if it was cold but typically was left over the shoulder to fly free at the gallop in the field.

I agree with both statements :), and if you have a look through the various threads on the painting forum there are many examples of members painting skills, you should post yours on there as well to get the maximum exposure!
