Here the photo depicts Sgt. Scott wearing a beret, while the figure depicts him wearing a helmet which relates to me that the figure is a depiction of him soon after his jump. The key feature is he is holding the correct weapon
which was his preferred weapon of choice, the carbine.

Can you provide the website?

Here is the website.

The photo is not captioned but it is clearly a shot taken of a soldier in a beret and holding a carbine on the 2nd floor of the Hartenstein Hotel. The large triple window, balcony railing and angled flagpole are a match to the hotel as it used to be. When the figure was first announced, I tried to find a reference to Sgt. Jack Scott in the airborne or in lists of Arnhem soldiers and remembrance lists but could find no reference to that name. So I absolutely believe the photo is of a figure holding a carbine at the Hartenstein Hotel, I can't say anything about his name, his rank or why he has a carbine

Here is the ID of the soldier in the photograph:

Squadron Sergeant Major Watt, "B" Squadron, The Glider Pilot Regiment, takes aim with an American M1 carbine from the first floor front balcony of the Hartenstein Hotel. Copyright: IWM BU1122.

Hope that helps.

Have a copy of the same photo in the Arnhem book I previously mentioned in the other MG thread, it's only caption mentions a para firing from the Hartensein Hotel.

So no Jack Scott. Here are some brief snippets of information on SSM Watt.

http://www.paradata.org.uk/people/william-watt

As for why he had an M-1 carbine: It shows SSM Watt firing his American carbine from a position in the Hartenstein Hotel..... This carbine was not issued to him from normal sources, but was obtained as a result of the kind of initiative for which we were famous in those days. In the run-up to 'D-Day' the squadron was quarantined, together with members of the 'Screaming Eagles' Division. Willie was fixated on obtainig the carbine and after much hectic negotiation succeeded in obtaining one, together with the ammunition.

Why was he awarded the Bronze Star - a US medal??

And this is supposed to mean what exactly about "Sgt. Scott"? ^&confuse

All of this thread exactly means about Sgt Scott is the photo is not of him. The K&C figure made of him is correct in the fact that he also was a big fan of the M1 carbine rifle. That's it !

I think its humour like The real guy liked the carbine and so does the figure?

Am I right? ^&grin

Btw this debate has been really interesting! Thanks lads!

Scott, You know I meant the real Sgt Scott liked the M1 carbine, as depicted in the figure. The photo is not him though according to Phantom Warrior. Whats up with that ?
I think the "Debate" is over...................................... :salute::
