SF04- My favorite KC set of ALL TIME!! (1 Viewer)

If we're talking our own favorite sets. Then mine would have to be the big glossey ACW Louisiana Tiger Zouaves charging with officer. I can't pass by the display without stopping to look at and admire it.
If it's all time sets I still regret nto grabbing the Beatles Srgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band!!!

I wonder how many of those Sgt Peppers Sets eventually went to a Yard Sale or Second-Hand Store from people who dont know what they have??

Man- wouldn't we all love to have scored one of those sets!!!

Yeah, I was just making a comment as far as my own KC collection goes- we periodically go through this sort of discussion. I was just really captured by this set of Leathernecks- the SF04 set. I just wanted to put it out there especially since I hear a lot of "KC didn't get this or that historically accurate" or what not. I would like to think the creative team would like to hear a "yeah, you scored it right guys- Bravo" I dunno- just seems to me like they get beat up for stuff like that.

The one set I'll never part with is the Winter "88", always displayed, just too much personality.

I couldn't agree more Chris. IMO, for sheer quality and realism, K&C stand head and shoulders above other TOY SOLDIER manufacturers, although I think NMA are only 0.000001% behind with their range. Dunno about HB but from all I've heard and seen on this forum they seem to be up there as well.
This is not to detract from our friends who do collect other manufacturer's offerings - each to their own - and its only MY opinion.
For those who crave accuracy to the power "n" in their TOY SOLDIER collection (something I find to be a contradiction of terms) - good luck. I hope you find your Holy Grail. Me? I'll stick with what I'm offered by K&C, occasionally innacurate or not - cos they get it right many, many more times than they get it wrong.
:):):)

Can't blame you there Ray- that's a Holy Grail piece- enjoy it!! I remember when I passed on it- didn't it retail for around $225 or so- I want to think that is what I remember it selling for- the Normandy one was a little less??? Anyway, I was thinking "Ah, it ain't like they are going to do the Bulge and the Eastern Front doesn't seem to be moving" well, I'm eating some pretty nasty humble pie now!!

No question - the Winter 88 and the Winter Tiger are the TOP TWO of K&C - for sure !! I wish I had been on my game back then with WWII. :(

Are the Winter 88 and Winter Tiger one set?

Billy,

Two different sets. Both huuuuuuugely expensive now, unfortunately. Managed to get the Tiger, but the 88 is well out of my price range.

Had to pass on that one recently:(

What about SF03 - Humvee in Afghanistan to go along with SF04...that's a pretty good one..;)

Actually, it was a gentleman who I don't see here on the boards very often- he kind of appeared one day, we shot some PMs back and forth and then he disappeared- as if I was visited by some Cyberspace KC angel steering me in the direction of this superior set!! :D

Great looking setup too!! Just curious but does your SAW gunner's eyes - are the pupils sort of leaning to the right or left?? Mine are rolled to the right a bit- it looks like the squatting squadmate has come up next to him and captured his attention.

Don't look now but there's a set of these same jarheads on ebay right now. Kinda high but there anyway - who knows, they are retired now!! HArd to find means big bucks for K&C collectors..:D
