US forum members might be interested to know that tonight (5/27) kicks off 16 weeks of the 1993 series "Sharpe's Rifles" on BBC America. Saturdays 8PN Central time. Stars Sean Bean.

I watched those shows years ago. I ended up going out and buying the whole series of books, as well as the Tradition "Sharp's Rifles" sets. It got me off on a whole Napoleonic tangent for a while (I still have sets and sets of Tradition and Trophy Napoleonics).

Bought all the tapes years ago, and have started to replace the episodes with the dvds. Easily my favorite action series, slightly ahead of Combat. I had the Tradition and Stocade Soldiers sets and sold them. Replaced them with a somewhat illegal set from Mulberry Miniatures. Not many are around as they had to be pulled from production and the molds " distroyed ". The British Toy Soldier magazine that put them on the cover had to pull that issue from the market and now any back issues that are offered will not show that cover on their site. Just a little bit of gossip...Michael Also, you can find these figures on e-bay every so often...

Thats great!

I have most of the series on VHS and DVD and I too have some very nice looking sets of Tradition 95th Rifles as well as a Sharpe and Harper.

I also have all of the books mostly hard bound and a couple signed by Mr Cornwell too! All in all a really excellent series.

One thing that always made me laugh about that series is when he would show how they could fire 4 rounds a minute and to drive the ball down the barrel they would hit the butt of the riffle on the ground. The only problem with that is that a riffled barrel was very hard to get the ball down the barrel and they even issed small hammers to get the ball down. The riffles took twice as long to load as a smooth bore and even the smooth bore can,t be loaded this way because of the patch around the ball but, it was still a great series.

I liked the books far better. But, for Tv, these were pretty well done.
Local library has them all so i'll pass on the DVD. Fish, You're right about the Baker rifles.

I have some ACW repro rifled muskets, and one original 69 cal Springfield conversion.

They foul really fast!I don't know How the y could "tap Load" their rifles this way, but it is TV.
Pretty good stuf still.
