"Off the tank boys and GATA!"

I just got this Winter CS M4A3E8 Sherman right before Christmas (a present from me to me :smile2:) and love it. I got these two Normandy Jumpers to go with it and think they add a nice option for an action scene. This CS Sherman might be my favorite AFV of my collection now from any maker. It comes with a separate thrown track AND a separate destroyed turret to depict many differnet scenarios of a battle damaged tank.

Thanks Wayne. It's a great tank, long retired/sold out though and hard to find. CS also has a current M4A1 Sherman out now that is a good model as well, and I have the Normandy version of that one, but to me this Easy Eight is the top.

Great pictures.I got this tank myself, and yes the details are amazing. I prefer to display it with the damaged turret.

Very nice Duke. Equally nice is your diorama. Love the snowy road. This looks like a great version of the Sherman and I like the jumpers as well. I'd really like to see a North African version.

Happy New Year!

Duke, great shots, I don't want to open a can of worms, what scale is it compared to other 1/30? - I have a marder which is terrific, but a bit bigger shall we say.

Open a can of worms?^&grin^&grin^&grin ....

I'll give you my take on the scale issue. I collect from many manufacturers and basically like them all. I've never tried to measure AFV's for exact scale, but I have measured some figures based on average height for scale (although people do come in different shapes and sizes :)) My original concern was with my early K&C collection where the tank figures were much too large for the vehicle they were in. It is apparent to the eye if nothing else. So when I started collecting Collectors Showcase tanks, they seem to be an almost perfect fit with K&C figures (using the eye test). My measurements for most of my K&C figures are approx: 1/28, yet they look perfect with CS vehicles, and my 1/30 scale First Legion figures (checked this and they do in fact seem to be 1/30) look perfect with many of my K&C tanks/vehicles. Collectors Showcase AFV's are larger than K&C/FL/Figarti/etc. BUT to me they are the perfect fit for many of the "advertised" 1/30 figures like K&C. My most important requirement is that the crew/soldiers look the same scale as the tank they are in/with NOT what scale they actually are and CS tanks have really helped me out in that regard. That's my opinion anyway using the "eye" test on most. I've taken photos of me against many tanks in several museums plus looked at many wartime photos to get a feel for the size comparison of a soldier to a particular tank.

Kevin,

Just to follow up a little better on your question. Although I do not have the CS Marder III, I would suspect that it would match up scale wise with some of your K&C and others figures. Here's an example of 2 K&C US Paratroopers alongside an older K&C Sherman M4A3/105 and the CS M4A3E8 Sherman. You do have to take into account that the figures have bases which raise them up slightly but compare to my IWM Sherman photo (I am 6'0" tall by the way) and I think the pictures speak for themselves. Also, thanks for the comment on my dio shots.:)

Thanks everyone for the nice comments.

Brad,

It's even better than just having a damaged turret. The damaged turret comes with 2 barrels, one blown apart (as shown here) and one in tact so you can display the damaged turret (with holes in the sides) with either of the 2 barrels. The mantlet/barrel piece just pops off the damaged turret to change from barrel to barrel. This tank has so many options with the damaged track, damaged turret with optional barrels, opening and closing hatches, etc. that it makes it truly a unique piece in the hobby I think and why it is probably my favorite tank piece at the moment.

No problem Kevin, glad to do it. Those are some great photos of your Marder. That is an awesome looking model. If I ever get a chance on one, I'll probably try and pick it up someday.

Wow Duke! I didn't realize it came with all that! That is a great piece. The one thing i always like about the cs is that they offer the option of open or closed hatches. It give u variety. I don't buy many tanks. But i really like my Tiger 332. Thanks for showing the pics Duke. REally appreciated. Brad
