Mid Summer 66 A.D. Armed rebellion breaks out in Jerusalem and the Roman garrison try to stamp in out.

we need TG or other makers to produce a series of Jewish Rebels. Their dress would not be complex and weapons could range from simple slings, bow and arrows, spears and confiscated Roman weapons.
Some great dioramas of ambushes in the hill country along with city fighting and the siege of Jerusalem would look great.
Thanks for the great ideas from your dios.

Thanks, I'm already done another urban ambush scene, which I'll post soon as some decent Sunlight shows itself here !
Yes, hopefully some maker will do them. The figures which I've converted to Spearman and Archer along with the Slingers are Del Prado, all from their Balearic Slinger, which Emilio of Kronprinz did the original sculpt for.

Steve; great diorama and excellent photos. The TG Dacian Officer ROM-EN01 could double as a Jewish Army officer. The K&C Asian Archer ROM 025 could also serve as a Jewish Army archer.
I would repaint the helmets bronze and the tunics green to be more accurate historically. Your use of the Del Prado slinger works very well. Several other Del Prado Romes Enemies figures can be adapted to service as Jewish Army troops.

Thanks Kat.
Absolutely as well as the Slingers I've repainted two stone throwers and repositioned the arm on one.
Also some of the figures with removal of their weapons and on some painting, become civilians such as the Elephant driver, becomes a freedman stall holder with his Red Phrygian cap and a stone thrower becomes a Slave doing shopping for his Master !

Great stuff, and go on...what does the graffiti say ? :D

Translations from left hand side to right.
In Hebrew above bricked up doorway, Donkey to rent and Rooms to rent. (kind of place Jesus might have been born in !)
Then in Latin: Donkey's to rent at back, one Denarius per day.
Daubed over with Roman dogs run ! And underneath (Hebrew) Cheap Donkey ****.
Above door, Cohen and Son.
Below, No Credit. Freedom for Judea. PFI (Peoples front for Judea Nod to Life of Brian !) and early Christian symbol of a Fish !

And behind the market stalls on left amongst the Romans Go Home and Roman dogs etc graffiti
33.jpg

In pale Blue "HIC Erat Bigus". Which should / might translate depending on your internet translater as "Bigus was Here" !

Also Kilroy was here in Hebrew and Marc Anthony loves (Hearts) Cleopatra !

This diorama is great. If you are looking for more troops there is a Russian manufacturer called Engineer Basevich that did a small run of Ancient Jews in plastic several years ago. They look great painted up as the sculpting is excellent. They are sold out in most places but I just saw them on the Hobby Bunker website for $45 US. The problem with the Russian figures is the cost after the vendors mark up and the shipping. You can get them cheaper in Russia of course.

Hi Steve,

there's something I ought to tell you... you're an artist!!! {eek3} What a great diorama: I can see so many different elements... I fancy the graffiti on the wall...:)

Once again, well done!!!

Cheers

Thanks for the heads up, though at 1.32nd scale unless someone knows different I think the difference in scale would be too noticeable. But thanks anyway.
The Temple Priest figure though looks excellent !

Cheers Enrico, good of you to say. A bit rough round the finishing touches, but gives a good idea I think. Though of course I wasn't there myself !^&grin

There is a difference of opinion among manufacturers about what 1/32 scale means. The Engineer Basevich and Publius figures are about the size of the Conte Vikings. Steve Weston sells Engineer Basevich but the Ancient Jews may be sold out in most places.
