Great idea. Get them in order of battlefield starting with North Afrika. That one will sell out first.

Interesting question. Is that 8 different versions? The pictures show 4 different turret numbers, so 2 of each? I'm guessing 2 of each number, 1 winter and summer, 1 with zimmerit and 1 without, 2 sets of Henschel and 2 sets of Porsche. My head hurts! Must pick 2 versions, I think. -- Al

At the price it would be rude not to. Very interested in the porsche variants so, that will be the ones I want

I think 4 Porsche turrets and 4 Henschel. Each turret type has 2 winter (one with zimmerit and one without) and 2 summer (one with zimmerit and one without).

I think that's how it goes. There are a lot of them.

My head still hurts. I really like the look of the LAH BoB Henschel Turret w/o zimmerit. Also like the Porsche turret but don't know if I should get zimmerit or not. Anyone know how many of the Porsche turret K2's would have had zimmerit? -- Al

Lancer...

I think if memory serves there were only 50/55 porsche variants now, some I have seen had zimm and some did not.

I quite like the no zimm versions looks more mean (if that makes sense)

Yeah, I knew there weren't very many. in total. I like the non-zimmerit look, too. Looks like I am going to have to try to get 2 of them, 1 of each turret. -- Al

Go for it mate!! Some people think I'm mad trying to buy 4 Figarti Abrams and Stykers :)

That's what I'm thinking... one of each w/o zim. Plus the reloading set, of course!:D

I believe all Porsche Turret King Tigers had Zimmerit. Zimmerit was discontinued in September of 1944. Only 50 Porsche turrets were made and those tanks were used in Normandy and Arnhem. I doubt they survived past September as most were lost to air attack, mechanical breakdown and lack of fuel.

Your right about all porsche turret having Zimmerit but they did see action in Hungary in Jan 1945

That's correct. The 1st and 3rd Kompanies of Schwere Pz. Abt. 503 were each equipped with 12 Porsche Turret King Tigers. S.Pz.Abt. 503 fought in Normandy and later in 1945 in Budapest with winter camo. Two of the King Tigers that fought in Normandy and made it to Budapest were from the 3rd Kompanie. They were 314 "Anneliese" and 323. I have photos of exactly what the tank looked like whitwashed.

It looks like CS did 323 in whitewash looking as it would have in winter 1944/1945.

So 323 w/zim is correct for Normandy, Arnhem and BoB?

No - they are correct for Normandy and Budapest. A different unit, Schwere Pz. Abt. 506 was at Arnhem and the Bulge with Porsche turret tanks w/zim. They had a different unit symbol - it was a Tiger on a red "W" and holding a shield with a red cross.

The more detailed the unit symbols, tank numbering, zimmerit and whitewash, the more specific is the tank's history as opposed to a generic tank.
