As it is super bowl sunday why not open up the age old question... Do you think that wbritains which I believe used to produce ww2 items before first gear bought them return to this genre? Do you think the market is already ww2 cluttered or do you think most collectors are already committed to other existing lines (both existing wbritains and ww2 with other TSCs) for this to be successful. Even if wbritains did this line again would they only want to do just figures and not afvs and would they do something that others have done or something completely new to market. From a dealer perspective would they want another ww2 line as so many of them have multiple lines already with ww2 items and would existing customers want them to spread their already thin existing resources to cover another line at the expense of the current lines they collect .

They never stopped after 1st Gear bought them. They still are making WW2 stuff, not on the scale of some of the other makers but they are still adding to the line.

I am an ACW collector. Just My two cents here. I think Britains is doing a great job on all their other products they produce. I have read that they are big on the ACW products because of the 150 anniversary of the ACW. To Me it looks like WWI is doing good along with the Zulu line and WWII line. I follow all of Britains product and I am a member of the club. Some one please correct Me if I am wrong.

NO!!!! They should stick to WW1....and that's not me being greedy at al!!:wink2:^&grin

WB should leave WWII alone. I think there is quite enough out there for WWII fans without WB starting a similar range.

I have to agree with Damian. Do what you do best. I think they are an afterthought in WW II. It is, however, a big market and if you're going to try to get some of those dollars/pounds/euros you have to put your heart and soul into it. If you're going to go in for a penny, go in for a pound.

Focus on WW I, like Rob says :smile2:

I say that Britains should do any range that they believe would be successful and make collectors happy. I still believe K&C owns WW2, at least in the 54mm to 60mm scale. Maybe, Britains should do a 28mm scale for this range... {sm2}

I have an extensive WW2 collection in 1/32. If KC OWN'S that period it's certainly not represented in my collection as I don't own a one.TOO BIG.
Britain's did a very nice Normandy range. I'd like to see at least some Arnhem pieces{ British HVY weapons} maybe some US Marines And Japanese in 54mm. But like you say, in 65-70mm it's been done. Lot's of retired , long sold out sets, and new ones that are too big and too expensive.I like them all, but they simply do not fit with ant of my 54mm collections.
So, for one vote, I say yes.

I collected Britains WWII figures some years ago when they did a nice balanced range of Germans (Fallschirmjaegers and Waffen SS) versus US and later some more German infantry and some Brits. As they were 1/32 they fitted in very nicely with my collection of Forces of Valor and 21st Century tanks, trucks and AFVs. Alas, Britains seem to have abandoned this particular field to the 1/30 scale boys such as K&C, Figarti etc. etc. However, I do like the current RAF WWII range that Britains have embarked on, and hope this range expands.

Currently I am collecting the superb WWI range which has got lots of potential. However, I hope that Britains have not entirely given up on WWII ground combat. As everyone is aware 2014 is not only the 100th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great War but also the 70th anniversary of D-Day and I hope that Britains will not let this particular event go un-noticed. Myself, I would love to see the assault by Paras and Glider troops on Pegasus Bridge done as a range of figures (though I realise that this is a big ask)! So how about some suitable D-Day figures (from both sides) in the Museum or Elite ranges, the latter of which has gone somewhat quiet of late?

Why not? Britain's are a toy soldier maker so, they should not restrict one theatre. I did think they still covered that period? it seems that on here at least the Zulu, WWI and some other ranges get the attention

Hi Guys,

I think that they will continue to make a set here and there but I hope they will concentrate their efforts on WWI for the next few years with some Nile and Naps tossed in to keep the rest of us happy. Would really like some personality figures like Allenby and would be very happy if they decided to do some Palestine Units like any or all of the units in the Mounted Division. This would include the Australian and New Zealand Brigades and of course the Camel Corps and some RHA guns tossed in as well. Also would need a lot of Turkish and German units as well to flesh out a line like this. Could even get some H&A scenic tossed in as well...:salute::

Lets hope that Ken reads our little discussions...

WW1 is of interest but I have not taken the plunge. I painted a Formtech WW1 trench system years ago, and approx 3 AIP figs. Still have the trenches but I have dismissed the WW1 for so long I'm afraid lot's of items I would have liked are sold out. ONWTC had some nice sets too. I like making terrain lay outs for my assorted collections,WW1 would be a fun challenge.
HMMM? Another money pit ?

Hi Fubar,

I totally hear you on the new series. Have too many other irons in the fire and if I get into another line it would be a lot of fun trying to explain it to my lovely wife...

Dave

"Explaining it to my wife," the scariest phrase for all collectors {eek3}

I think the old Britains WW2 figures are great! The ambushed steyr is an amazing set which is sitting in my Arnhem dio snugly!

I think with ww2 Britains have done some things which are not commonly visited: Glider infantry - 101st and 1 82nd.

Britains should stick with this range. Think of the hudson and allen buildings which are mostly aimed at ww2?

Scott

As long as they keep up their WW1 range I'll be happy. With Britain's, John Jenkins, First Legion and now Thomas Gunn all now bringing WW1 to the fore its win win. :salute::

I hope K&C, CS, maybe even Figarti may join the fray this year too^&cool

I wish Britains would get back to WW2 in a big way. Being "hefty" 1/32 scale figures, they work with many armored vehicles from Figarti, TGM and FOV. I find First Legion figures too expensive, and K&C, TCS and TGM figures to be too large. So Britains fills a unique spot for me with a versatile scale and price point. Some pics below of Britain's FJs with armor from Figarti and TGM.

You are very correct..

They are very well priced...well done and address the scale issue very well.

Thanks for reminding me. I have a lot of their stuff and I have not taken it out in a while.

By the way ...nice setup

Just a few more examples of Britains and ONWT (similar style and size) figures with newer armor from Figarti and TGM. Also the aforementioned Britains Stehr with Figarti 1/32 German figures. Sorry for the lack of suitable backgrounds.

Nice set up. I prefer the Britain's style overall. I see the Hetzer tank. That must be a C S piece. I have a rule of thumb regarding vehicles. I will use 1/35, 1/30 in my war games/ diorama's, If they are on a different chassis not otherwise represented. I would not use say a Platoon of Sherman tanks with one being other than 1/32. Scale difference is Too noticeable . Same for Panzer 4 chassis vehicles etc.
I do have x 2 of the old New Model army Lynx recon tanks.Both repainted.Since there's nothing on the same chassis to match it against, they look fine with 1/32 figs.
Again, nice pix. More WW2 Ken.Please.
