This was one of the first two Trophy sets I ever purchased back circa 1990, along with the Dragon Gun set. Great stuff!

Some newer French marines I got from a guy in Canada who says they have sat for over 20 years untouched. The bases look lighter than the earlier

These look fantastic, and might work with WWI, as they are wearing Horizon Blue.

Excellent! If you have the later version of the Chinese Imperial Infantry, please post some photos. The Boxer Rebellion is an excellent range, but I always felt Len could have added a few more cool sets that he never got around to.

No it is from soldiers of the world and it was not cheap. I had never seen it before.

No it is soldiers of the world. I bought it on the old toy soldier auction a couple years ago. It was not cheap but what a good looking piece

Thank you, Hawkeye. I thought I knew Regal Products pretty well—but obviously not as well as I thought! That’s a fantastic piece… and now my want list just got longer.

Indian lancers being one

Indian Lancers in the Boxer Rebellion (1900):​

Confirmed Participation:​

• Indian cavalry units were part of the British China Relief Expedition, which was one of the eight-nation forces sent to suppress the Boxer uprising and relieve the siege of foreign legations in Beijing.
• Among them, the most likely lancer regiments involved were:
  • 7th Bengal Lancers
  • 1st (Duke of Connaught’s Own) Bombay Lancers
  • Possibly Skinner’s Horse (1st Bengal Lancers)

These units were already stationed in British India and were deployed for imperial duties abroad.

Role & Deployment:​

• Their role was primarily escort, reconnaissance, and maintaining imperial presence, rather than engaging in direct heavy fighting.
• The terrain and urban warfare in China—especially around Beijing and Tientsin—was not ideal for traditional cavalry charges.
• That said, mounted patrols and presence in formal parades or shows of force were very much part of their duties.
