Sichuan Earthquake and K&C factories (1 Viewer)

I wonder if K&C had any factories and employees who fell victim to the earthquake... if so I suggest we make a donation fund to the victim instead while we're capable in paying such large amount of money to buy Mr. Andy's expensive toy soldiers!

Frankly I don't trust the Chinese govt. to do the right thing, money is not an issue for the chinese the govt. has huge cash reserves and plenty of man power to deal with this issue. They are not allowing "outsiders" into the country to assist., this being said, it is always good to give to Charitable agencies.

True, this is a valid option but I think his point was to get forum members involved in a cooperative effort with K/C

That's why I am suggesting that we do it via K&C. K&C is a Hong Kong company and is considered an 'insider.'

I think this is a good idea. What kind of figure do you have in mind? We wouldn't want it to be harrowing, but something that gets the point across.
I thought of maybe a lady with a child being helped by a rescue worker, all on the same base.

Hi Guys,

First of all a big thank you to all those Forum members who have expressed their sympathy for the plight of the victims of this terrible disaster in Sichuan Province.

Should anyone wish to make a contribution to the relief there (and also in Burma) then they can do it through any one of several highly respected and reputable aid agencies such as the following:

OXFAM
UNICEF
World Vision
Medecins Sans Frontieres
The International Red Cross
And several others.

Here at King & Country in Hong Kong we as a company and as individuals have done just that. We are not channeling aid directly to either individuals or the Governments of China or Burma.

I should also like to clarify that we do not have any of our factories located in Sichuan or the disaster areas so, fortunately, none of the good people we work with in China have been directly affected by these terrible events.

So, once again your concern is very much appreciated but please do not channel any funds to K&C. Utilize your own personal choice of aid relief.

Andy made PLA parade figures for the turnover of Hong Kong back in the 1990's. They were matt, fairly well sculpted and painted, even by todays standards, and so far as I have seen, not that expensive on the secondary market.

Thanks guys for your information. Where's the 'secondary market' that you're referring to? I've always wished Andy will produce parade toy soldiers of both British and Chinese side during the 1997 Hong Kong handover. I know Andy had the Blackwatch band in white tropical uniform but I long to see some troopers in white (but not kahki) and also Royal marines band in tropical uniform.

Especially the ADC of the Last governor had awesome uniform!

As you noted, Andy did do PLA, Black Watch and Royal Marines Marching and Bands in tropical dress, as well as a PLA reviewing stand. There was also a 4 man color party from the Royal Hong Kong Volunteer Regiment (Andy was the regiment's last adjutant), and the HK Governor saluting with a Hong Kong Flag.

Yes, the toy soldier shows, and occasional e-bay or Vectis auctions, are the best places to find old K&C items.

To my knowledge, this range has only appeared once or twice on ebay in the last several years.
