Siege of Jadotville (1 Viewer)

I really enjoyed this flic. Was not aware of this before . I liked Dornan in one .

What regiment was Company A part of ?
Kirk

A Company, 35th Battalion.

Not sure if that Battalion would be a special Battalion as seems was a normal infantry Battalion.

This link is an interesting book review about Irish Battalions in the Congo from 1960 - 1964. Key point mentioned is that command of the troops was by the Irish UN official Connor O Brian.

I just watched it on Netflix. Good action and thankfully none of that John Ford movie Victor McLaglen Barry Fitzgerald Lucky Charms malarkey.

I rather enjoyed it, not a masterpiece, but you spend the night before sleeping..

Hi All and Katzie Kid,

Thanks for the recommendation. I enjoyed this movie. Some nice action scenes but rather unbelievable. There was so much lead flying around and not a single one of the 150 Irish troops was killed. The main actor was shot in the shoulder and he's walking around giving orders without a sling. The very experienced French commander with 20/1 troop ratio advantage and lots of SMGs and jeeps with HMGs and RPGs etc and he's got his troops all standing up in a straight line and firing at the sheltered UN troops. I think a little bit too far-fetched but a good action movie on a little known incident.

Rgds Victor

Saw this today and really enjoyed it. Thought it well done from the writing, acting, and the technical standpoints. Good show on a subject I knew nothing about. -- Al
