Hi Mike,

I know I'm long overdue in getting some pictures of my crusaders up on this forum. I just haven't had any free time to work on my crusades diorama lately. I've been very busy with business. I'm having to work a little harder lately, in order to continue to bring in the necessary income. Actually, I did finally set everything up and shoot a few rolls of film a few days ago. I'm an "old school" (no, I don't shoot school pictures) photographer. I still shoot all film, primarily in 6X7 format, and then scan to print. I'll have to convert the film images to digital and will then put them up on the forum. I put four 100 watt 5500 Kelvin (daylight balanced) mercury vapor bulbs over the whole display and shot primarily in available light, with a few close-ups done with diffused on-camera strobe. I'll be interested in seeing how the transparencies turn out. They probably won'y look as good as if I had used an inexpensive point and shoot digital camera, set on automatic. Oh well. I leave on Tuesday, to exhibit in a show in Chicago and will be gone a week. I'll convert and post the images as soon as I'm able to, after I return home. Mike, thanks for your interest in viewing my developing crusades diorama.

About that pavilion tent - it turns out to be the one we both already have. I recently bought a second identical tent and spent a lot of time converting it considerably. I made a long, thin, waving three inch red and white flag for it, to replace the Lionheart flag that came with it, using light weight copper sheet and a thin copper dowl. I totally converted the shape of the flaps that overhang from the top, removed the Lionheart emblems from the sides and painted the sides white and red, like the top, in a contrasting pattern to the top. I haven't yet shot pictures of the tent conversion, but will get some up, soon after I put up the pictures I've already shot.

Mike & Myzka,

Your store looks great. Congratulations! Thank you for your response to my question on the pavilion tent in the cabinet. I actually do have that tent, but in the picture, the color rendition from incandescent light caused the white parts to look yellow, so I thought it might be a different tent that I had not yet come across.

If anyone is even remotely close to the area I highly recommend that you visit the new store. As great as the pictures are, they do not do the new store justice. As many of you know, downtown Los Gatos is a high scale area and all Sierra has done is raised the bar for the surrounding shops. However the storefront does have one draw back in that it is so well done you have a hard time prying yourself away from it to finally step inside! But once you do prepare to be over whelmed. The store is deep but not so vast that anything gets lost. Each cabinet, despite Myszka’s claims that more work needs to be done, is set up just right. As you move from one cabinet to the next, you can’t help but notice that you have a view of each and every toy soldier. The displays are not cluttered and they are set out in a manner that lets you enjoy them as if in a museum. And then there are the planes ‘hanging’ from the ceiling that seem to create an air show. They are aerial dioramas and worth more than just a glance. When you finish your first tour, you will in almost likeliness make another couple of laps around the store. Good luck getting out of the store, if they did not close I would still be there now.

However, the best part of the store is Mike and Myszka. They are what makes this hobby what it is. I have had the honor and pleasure of knowing them for quite a while now and they are what makes the shop so special. It would not matter where the shop was located, as long as they owned and operated it, I would go. Setting aside their vast knowledge of toy soldiers and the industry as a whole, they are simply great people. Beyond that the staff they have chosen, including their son Andrew, is also great.

I am by no means a huge collector, but I would not collect to the extent that I do if not for this shop. Stop by and I am sure you will see why!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It is a wonderful store and pretty well lit. Soldiers are easy to see and there are some interesting older goodies at the back counter for all you older types:p;)
