WARS OF THE ROSES DISPLAY
John has prepared 9 display bases for the Singapore Meet and Greet event, on August 19[SUP]th[/SUP] 2017.

The largest display will be for the Wars Of The Roses Collection.
This will be a display representing the final charge of King Richard III at the Battle Of Bosworth

THE BATTLE OF BOSWORTH FIELD 1485

The Battle of Bosworth (or Bosworth Field) was the last significant battle of the Wars of the Roses, the civil war between the Houses of Lancaster and York that raged across England in the latter half of the 15th century.

Fought on 22 August 1485, the battle was won by the Lancastrians. Their leader Henry Tudor, Earl of Richmond, by his victory became the first English monarch of the Tudor dynasty. His opponent, Richard III, the last king of the House of York, was killed in the battle.

Historians consider Bosworth Field to mark the end of the Plantagenet dynasty, making it a defining moment of English and Welsh history.

Over the next 10 days leading up to the event, we will show pictures of the Wars Of The Roses display, as a work in progress.

The base was designed to fit in the largest Hong Kong Post Office parcel box, as it was going to be shipped to Singapore from Hong Kong.

The base was made from high density Styrofoam, and measures 59cm x 46cm.

The first step was to place the figures in an appropriate historical layout.
The battle took place with Richard’s Army strategically placed on top of AMBION HILL.
Therefore the display has a gradual incline with the army of Henry Tudor fighting up the hill.

In an effort to destroy Henry Tudor, Richard decided to leave his position on Ambion Hill, leading his household retainers down the slope, thundering towards Henry’s men with levelled lances. King Richard III and his standard bearer, Sir Percival Thirlwall, charge towards Henry Tudor and his standard bearer William Brandon.

Robin, I cannot post the end result photo until the day of the event or I will face the wrath of John. LOL. Chris

Once the placement of the figures was established, the outlines of the figure bases were then marked.

Once the position of the figures had been established the carving and sculpting of the base began.

The painting of the base was quite fast, and the grass was then added and allowed to dry.

And now, Robin, Robin, do I post the final picture?

Some photos of the event later this month would be excellent Chris. Robin.

Most of the figures were added to test that everything was working, and fitted in place.
The final display will be seen in all its glory at the Singapore Meet And Greet event, this Saturday 19[SUP]th[/SUP] August, along with several other displays!

If you have any questions on how John sculpts the figures and the display bases, please send them to Chris Tay, Wu Sze, KC Chew or Phelan Kuek.

That artillery set looks to be getting closer to release. Really looking forward to that one. Have a great show Chris. Robin.

Agree on the artillery but also can't wait for the release of those additional mounted knights or to see how they look when completed.

Mark

Really colourful display. The artillery seems to have been squeezed out, just not enough room in the mass of figures. Still hoping to have this gun and crew in my collection as a Christmas present. Robin.
