I am very particular about figures and choose to buy single figures instead of sets. Most manufacturers offer both single figures and sets; which do you prefer?

Generally, I prefer singles for the same reason. It is a similar desire for most tank crews.

There are exceptions such as a machine gun crew, but even most gun crews I would like them separate.

Not a big deal for me but with the inevitable price increase single figures are easier on the wallet.

If manufacturers operated deferred payment schemes. I'd prefer sets of say 10 single figures plus accessories.

Since I collect mostly older Britains Ltd. (I know I'm in "General Matte Discussion") I switched from sets which are often expensive to single figures - one of each type in a set. Singles are easier to find display space for, too.

I usually find that with sets of 3 or 4 figures their is at least one that I do not like i.e. akward pose, poor sculpt etc. I end up paying for an expensive figure I will not use. Amazing how the cost of figures have increased over the last 15 years. A K&C figure circa 2001 was $25; now it is $45 and increasing. I often take advantage of Treefrog's excellent consignment service and buy used figures. I just purchased an Honor Bound Jagdpanther Kommander figure that now is in command of my Figarti Jagdpanzer IV. A vast improvement IMO.

Either or. As most of my purchases of new figures are now First Legion, most of their releases are single figure sets. Manufacturers probably prefer single sets as they can charge more on a per figure basis.

FL has some sets, like the Artillery loaders that are all identical twins or clones; given the facial sculpts. The tank rider sets are very good. I hope they release some new panzer kommanders soon.
