Craig (craig1985taylor) asked how the figures from Tradition of London do match with the new Britains Redcoats/Bluecoats, FIW lines.
For comparison I do have a few photos that show two FIW British Artillery Sets together, one is from Britains and the other one are Tradition castings painted by Jeff (aujj65) for me.
I do believe that they can be displayed together but the Tradition figures are a bit "heavier" then the Britains.
Hope the pictures help.
Konrad

Here are a few more photos that show two figures each side by side.

If one didn't know what they were looking at, IMO these figures look identical in size and painting quality. Beautiful set-up. -- lancer

Thanks for the pics showing the comparison, Konrad!

You're right, Tradition's figures tend to be a little stockier than the Britains, but I think they fit together in a display.

Prost!

It may be of interest to note that Little Legion, ATS and Mountford are also compatible with Tradition and would therefore fit with Britains as well.

Thanks Konrad. I have the Britains set and it's interesting to see them side-by-side. The Britains fellows look like they're on Angelina Jolie's diet, while the Tradition fellows look like they've been eating just a bit too many French fries or too much diner food. :)

PS I added a photo to clarify my point

Good point, Trooper! I think they fit with Tommy Atkins, too, as well as Imrie-Risley, Rose (Gammage) and Ulrich Puchala's 54mm figures, and Hecker & Goros. I like to refer to the Britains figures as being in the classic 54mm scale.

Prost!

Cheers Craig.

Brad i agree the tradition figures do look stockier then the britains figures, but i like that helps make them look more believable being different body sizes :)

Konrad,

thanks fro me too for showing this comparison, I've seen both the sets of figures, but not next to each other, but this really shows them off. I would vote for the Tradition as being more realistic, as the Britains look just a bit too thin for my linking.

Gunners have to be big strong ment to be able to haul those guns around, and I think they are better represented by Tradition. They were sculpted by Andrew Stadden as far as I know, who regularly does the work for them. He has also done the 7 Years War series and the French North American series, including Artillery, seen here with my matt painting.

Every time I am in London, (about every 5 years if I'm lucky) I always go to Mayfir and meet up with Steve Hare in his shop, see the new figures, and rummage around in the box of retired figures, looking for bargains, you never know whats there! He also runs a very efficient mail order service so that I can get castings hre in Australia within a week.

As I'm a painter, more than a collector (which is the necessary result) I reall appreciate that sort of service, beiing so far away from the rest of the toy soldier world.

regards,

John
