So I have started to buy all the old British Dday figures and vehicles and FoB 3rd Infantry sets again. I'm working in an XXX Corps diorama which wont be created until well in the future but so far I have just been picking up a set here and a set there. It's quite fun to try and find all the pieces again and very interesting to see the prices. I recon I've had about 50% of items for significantly less than they were at retail when they were around.

Just picked up the FoB Bedford Truck today, always liked that piece!

Anyone else been hunting for older bits recently?

I am always on the hunt for K&C old sets to use in my dioramas.( Battle for Normandy and Battle of the Bulge) Last saturday I picked up BBA051 the supplies trailer. Since I fix permanently all my figures and vehicles on my dioramas I always buy in multiples .

While not a big D-Day collector, I did pick up a Churchill tank a couple of months back, that I'd had been looking out for at a reasonable price for quite a while.

I guess the Pandemic is having an effect on prices for some older pieces, with collectors thinning out their collections due to finances, if they've lost their job or not having the disposable income now, or even just taking a new direction of what interests them or those selling off the collections of relatives who have been taken by the virus.

I am a single, Canadian, set short of the K & C older D-Day sets. I am looking forward to the new British infantry and will pick them up as well, I have already picked up the 23rd Hussars Firefly for my Normandy Diorama. I will go for the British soldiers Normandy versions to go with the Firefly. Have to draw the line, financcially and display space, somewhere.

For those TFroggers in Europe, TSRare in Italy often have discounts on older and some newer K & C sets. They offer free P & P for Europe [includes the UK] for over €140, when you buy multiple sets. Probably not worth it for those outside Europe. There is no sales of K & C at the minute, but always good to keep an eye out.

My list of retired K&C to get was getting shorter

Still need some Cuirassiers, Ludhiana Sikhs, and late WW1 Germans. Plus the British MK.IV tank.

I was coming to a bit of a halt, but now I'm going to have to bite the bullet and start collecting some WW2. The new D-Day British range are too good to miss out on.
That means my retired list will get longer now {sm4}
Just starting to look up what I've missed

All good fun

Rob

Can you post a picture of what you already have El Pippo ?

I fell in love with the Cross and Crescent line when it first came out. The earliest Crusaders and Saracens are fantastic figures. I would recommend going for those first if you don't already have them. You can get them for fair prices these days. I still have many of the early Crusaders.
K & C re-released some of the Saracens this year, but I thought the original paint schemes were much better.

I am a fan of the MK range for the Crusades, I have 80 Crusaders and 45 Saracen figures, including the 'mixed' MK sets. I am 28 Crusader sets and 11 Saracen sets missing. I have not bought many lately as there are other manufacturers and eras that are attacking my TS budget. I agree you should get the earlier sets first, not as i think they are better, many are, while others like the new Lararists, Templars, etc are excellent, but buy as they will become harder to collect as time goes by. There are a few in there i have not bothered with as they are not Crusade figures, such as the King Arthur Roundtable, The Robert the Bruce sets, individuals like Sir A Douglas, as not involved in the crusades, unless time traveller, but they are nice looking figures.

I think the series is a bit on the back burner for K & C, a few bits every year, not a lot, if any, new stuff, reissues/repaints. I have no complaint about reissues/repaints, but wish it would be highlighted they are repaints and which figures they are repaints of?

That's a heck of a collection you have amassed! Do you have them all displayed? Like you, I never went after the non-Crusades figures from the MK series and focused on the Cross and Crescent segment. I do agree that the Lazarist's (MK-S04) and Crusader knights (MK-S03) are fantastic figures, but overall the first few waves of Crusader and Saracen releases have the overwhelming majority of what I believe to be the best sculptures. That holds true for me for the mounted pieces from the range as well.
