Small Artillery Embankment (1 Viewer)

Scott

So the Frontline artillery bunker is also incorrect? The earth should then be on the other side.

Randy the Frontline piece is correct, it only looks backwards because on its own. Its meant to be attached to 2 other pieces to create a larger artillery battery and I,m guessing that Mike had mistaken it for a stand alone piece and didn,t realize that it was backwards in this position. Sorry Mike but Scott is correct about the battery not really working being backwards like this because the earth acts to soften the blows of other artillery and with the wood on that side a cannon blow would take apart the wood and the earth would collapse and expose the crews and even send the wood flying at there heads. That being said you,ve created a really great looking backwards artillery battery!:rolleyes::confused::p Really Great work! just backwards! Maybe you could find some polish artillery crews????:p
I would try and do the same thing that Frontline did with theres!!! Turn it around and make the 2 a joining pieces like the frontline set and get your guys on the right side of it or just be happy with it the way it is and tell us critques to go bang our ankles.

I was wondering about the Frontline earthworks being backwards. Now I see what it is really like - with the cannon up front and at the ends of the structure for enfilading crossfire and the riflemen in the centre.

Thanks Tim--now it all makes sense. The FL photo of that one section confused me.

I think I'll just find some way to mount it upside down and put some Asian's figures in it standing on their heads...or maybe hang it on the wall like a painting...maybe even backwards facing the wall...it was just fun doing it...it will stay as it is...backwards and I will still like it...hehehehe...

Backwards, frontwards or upside down Mike. I still think it is great and glad that you enjoyed making it and are proud to display it and share it with us.

:D Keep up the creativity

Like I said Mike, Good or bad you learn something new with every new project. It came out great, I wouldn,t trash it. Like I said just turn it around and make it like the frontline piece and make the 2 pieces for each side. Then you can make a new thread and call it the BIG artillery embankment!!!:p

I appreciate all the comments...good and bad...

OD...I don't know if it will hurt them or not...the mulch is dry and my house is pretty much climate controlled...
Mike...my "Texas" ground material is from Home Depot...same as yours...hehehe

Scott...the "buffs" can shoot it full of holes...
Randy...thanks for posting the photo of my copy...appreciate that...
Terry...thanks for the PM explaining...very sincere...thanks for this photo below...I'm gonna try it
Guiseppi...you my man...gracias

my FIW engineers may have had a little dyslexic learning problem on artillery building...

but just for the record...

and I'll not pursue it again...

please note that in my very first opening thread that I stated that my model was designed from Frontline's SW.2 artillery battery...

designed by Frontline...right or wrong...it's just a copy...

also please note...that for me...collecting and building is fun...

I was never a stickler for accuracy...

as a kid I put one soldier behind a salt shaker and the other behind a pepper shaker...and it was fun...

it still is...

I'm happy:D

The "Bold" writing up there is one of the nicest comments I have seen here.
And so very true for many Toy Soldier collectors.
Thanks, Michael.

Thank you Konrad...

we may be "two peas from the same pod"...

it's just "fun" for me...

I think you understand me...
