flour and salt.jpg I made too much Flour and Salt mix for an experiment I am trying so I did a quick dio with the left overs....take about 4 days to set like concret then I will paint it and add figures....the arab figure is only for scale 54 mm.....the mix I made to experiment with is an 8 lbs block ...and will take 2 weeks to set.....I want to find out if it can be carved...cheers TomB PS...the brownish block object is a small brick I baked in the oven to see how quick it would set...baked about 40 minutes...has set like a rock and can be sanded....I can see a lot of use for this mix.

Amazing stuff, this whole subject is just so usual. Never considered using foodstuffs to make diorama's Tom. The painted version should come up a treat. Robin.

1 glass salt
1 glass water lukewarm
2 glasses floor

floor + salt , add water at once, mix with hands

100° C ( 212°F ) 2 hours for 1 cm thickness

Basic recipe

Thank you...It is cheap to use.....to do something like that in sculpey would be rather expensive...sets like concret ..but it takes a little time to do so...a day out in the sun and it should be okay to paint...regards TomB.

Something like that.....Plain flour works better than Self Raising flour.....can be mixed with boiling water, like the old meat pie base mixture....can also be mixed similar to a choux pastry ....or add other ingredients to make play dough....it is a very versatile mix...cheers TomB

is it edible if you don't like the way it comes out?
