Hi all, first posting and attempt at placing 'photos so hope it comes out OK. It's on a 1'x1' board (fits in the display cabinet) but still room at the front for a couple of Mahdists (OK, maybe 4....and the flag bearer, oh and maybe the one on the horse....). That's the advantage of smaller boards I guess, it does stop you going crazy. Having said that I still have a Conte Zulu to finish off and a K&C Crimea and I do like the look of the JJD Jacobites......

Simmo,

Welcome to the Forum.

That is a good little scene. Fairly simple but very effective use of items.

Who makes the crates ?

Regards
Brett

My thinking is nearly identical to Brett's --- very well composed and tells a story.

Thanks for your comments. The crates are from e-bay from a chap called "montypeeps". Don't want to advertise but I have bought a few things from him and have been very impressed with the cost and quality. Simmo.

Nicely done. And the JJD Jacobites are superb, so have a go at them. You won't be sorry.:wink2: -- Al

Simmo...

Welcome to the forum. A superb dio!!!

Hello Simmo...welcome to Treefrog...great job on your Sudan figures...I like the wooden base and terrain...very nice...

Great display indeed. I probably made a huge mistake. I was torn between the John Jenkins and Britain's Sudan items, Or the amazing detail and gigantic variety of Perry and Old Glory 28mm. I went with the 28mm,collected Hundreds and hundreds, and have painted exactly---- four.
The Jenkins troops are really amazing. I suppose I could collect in both scales.Done it before!{sm2}

Welcome to the forum Simmo, :)

And it's great to have another JJD Sudan collector among us.

Jeff

Btw, I think you will require at least a dozen Fuzzies.:D

Great display , as you mentioned a few Mahdists would really set it off with the rest left to the Imagination of the hordes behind them

Good stuff

Its simple but very effective! The Sudan War is such a great line to collect, my favourite at least. Are you rusted on John Jenkins? Or will you mix it up with some W Britains? The scales are ever so slightly out, that to the untrained eye its impossible to see the difference! Great Work

The diorama base maybe small, but it's well done and sets the figures off nicely. Good display. Cheers, Robin.

Proof that WONDERFUL things come in small packages. A great dio to spark the imagination.
Welcome to the TFF.

Thanks for all the positive comments.
Fully agree that I need an officer and a few Mahdists to squeeze in at the front. Not too keen on mixing Britain's in with the JJD as it would leave me less room/less money for JJD Mahdists which, in my opinion, are better. If I ever extend I will be looking to the Gatling Gun instead of more Gordons.
Does any one have any palm tree recommendations? A big one at the back would give the diorama some height but the K&C one's I've seen seem a bit pricey...

Hi Simmo,

Looks super! and the boxes look great, my favorite part is the man adding another box to the wall!
Always enjoy trying to find other uses for special pose figures...

Good luck with the palm tree hunt, if you find something please let me know.
I am resigned to having to learn to make my own trees... when I get around to it!

I have both K&C & JG MINIATURES palm trees, prefer JG. Sierra toy soldier has large for $42. Would be a nice touch to your dio. Cheers, Robin
