Snap Tite US halftrack (1 Viewer)

I'm intrigued by this Snap Tite US halftrack. It can be seen (well the box for it at least) here - https://www.ebay.com/c/1808044499

Does anyone have one? What is its actual scale?

Monogram's old kit. They issued it as 1/32, but it's probably closer to 1/35.

It's not worth eighty bucks. That's a kit collector price. If you want to build one, you can find it cheaper.

Just to be clear, Snap-Tite is Monogram, but the Snap-Tite kit isn't the same as the regular kit which must be glued together. Monogram developed the Snap-Tite line of kits for the youngest modelers, to encourage them to take up the hobby. They could be assembled quickly, and they had peel-off stickers instead of decals, if I remember correctly. The line included armor kits, like the half-track, aircraft, and cars. So a young kid could put it together quickly and then take it outside and play with it right away. Just like so many of us did with the first generation of plastic models, too.

Major correction; the old Monogram Snap-Tite US halftrack was in 1/48th Scale, nowhere near large enough for use with toy soldiers (unless you are working in 1/56th wargame scale). The actual model is about the size of the old Auburn rubber halftrack. I am old enough to have had that kit many years ago! It represents an M3 75mm Gun Motor Carriage, and is a very basic kit.

And it's listed as 1/32 at Scalemates, https://www.scalemates.com/kits/monogram-1006-us-army-half-track--265074. I don't know of any 1/48 armor that Monogram issued, apart from reissuing former Aurora armor kits, boxed with 1/48 airplanes as vignette sets.

First, Monogram NEVER made a "1/32" halftrack! Their original (circa 1958 - 60) molds were near 1/35th scale. In later years these were relabeled as 1/32nd to capitalize on the success of Monograms ACTUAL 1/32nd series that came out in the early through mid-1970s. No new molds were cut, just new boxes printed. Those halftracks were the "twin Fifty" AA halftrack (resembling a US M14 halftrack) and the "personnel carrier", which loosely resembled the M3A1 but use too many parts from the AA halftrack to be accurate. I NEVER saw any Monogram M3 Gun Motor Carriage in 1/35th OR 1/32nd. The Snap Tite halftrack was 1/48th - I know because I bought one and was going to cross-kit it with Bandai parts to make a better model.

Go ahead and buy one, just be prepared to be disappointed. If it happens to be 1/32nd, then pack it back in the box very carefully as you would have a rarity
