So how many of you..... (1 Viewer)

Dear noli-poli,
With the assistance of John (Njja), I am finally able to resize photos I took at K&C's headquarters in Hong Kong last November. I cropped one of the photos to show some British vehicles on one of the shelves. Most of the sets have been issued but there are two vehicles to the right of center which may be of interest to you -- they look very similar to your linked photos of the AEC Matador Tractor and Austin Tilly.:)

Dear Salamat,
I understand these were prototypes but K&C ultimately decided they would not sell well and were not produced for retail.:(

I don't think that's quite true for the Austin. Andy had it at Chicago and when I asked him about it, he said that he wasn't sure he was going to make it. So unless he has said something to you since then....

Dear Brad,
Andy did not say anything specific to me about the Austin. I understood the prototypes in the display cabinets were not released because they would not sell well.:)

Guys,

I hate to disappoint you, but the two vehicles in the photos are a Bedford QL Radio Command Truck and an Austin Tilly, both of which are prototypes that will not be put into production. The 8th Army and Western Europe versions of the Bedford, as well as the RAF version of the Austin will be among the prototypes on display at the forum. The Dunkirk version of the Austin belongs to Hans (I don't know if he will be bringing it for the symposium). All three versions of the Bedford Troop Transport Lorry prototype (8th Army, Dunkirk, Late War Europe) will be on display, as will a few other earlier one of a kind or extremely limited production vehicles, including a wood shell damaged 8th Army Sherman (2 were made), a wood Iwo Jima Sherman (4 were made) a metal shot up 8th Army Humber Staff car (1 of a kind), and a metal modern SAS Land Rover for Iraq (1 of a kind).

I didn't say he was going to make it and I think we all realize they're prototypes. What I said he wasn't sure he was. As far as making the Bedford in the future, I'm hoping he will make it. I think the poll I started shows that interest is there, almost as much as the warbirds I would gather. But if he doesn't, I have the feeling that Honour Bound might be interested in making it.

Hi Louis,

Please excuse my ignorance, but what is the symposium?

Carlos

Dear Carlos,

Every year in the second weekend in March, Larry Lo, Hans Hedrich and myself host the New York Toy Soldier Symposium, inviting collectors, dealers, and company execs from all over the world to New York for two free dinners, a free lunch with cocktails, a talk by Andy Neilson of K&C and a viewing of my and Larry's collections. Its just an opportunity for those who share our passion to get together, network, talk, bend Andy's ears with requests, etc. This year between 20 and 30 people will be attending, two from France, two from England, Andy from Hong Kong, a couple from Canada and the rest from around the United States. I put up a thread on the Forum to enable those interested to get in before it filled up. Take a look at the thread for all the info. PM me for more details.

Regards,

Louis

What's the use of showing prototypes if no production is planned? To whet our appetites? I sense an air of arrogance here. I strongly feel that there should be a competition out there...Ana, Mike are you listening?

Roger and out.

Dear noli-poli,
I apologize if you sense any arrogance. Please realize that neither K&C or Andy are posting the pictures of the prototypes, I am. I am simply a collector of K&C and not affiliated with K&C. Andy graciously allowed me to photograph the displays at his office for posting on this forum. Some of the displays happened to have prototypes of vehicles that K&C made. I noticed two of the vehicles in my pictures looked similar to your posted pictures and thought you would be interested in seeing these vehicles -- no intent to tease you. I also apologize in using "Salamat" to address you in a previous post. I thought it was your name and later realized it may be a closing:( .

I am quite sure that if Andy doesn't make a Bedford, etc., someone like HB or NMA are going to step up to the plate.

Steven:

Heard you loud and clear. Sorry for being testy in my previous post. I guess it's the frustration of not getting what I want...a sign of old age setting in I guess. Anyways, thanks for the photos. Keep them coming in.

Thanks

P.S. Btw, "salamat" is thank you in Tagalog (Filipino). My mom is of German-Spanish-Filipino mix. My dad is Japanese-Filipino and that puts me anywhere in between.
