Hi Guys,

Just a note to say how much I appreciate ‘NMROCK’s’ wise comments on this subject.

As most, if not all of you, already know K&C releases a bunch of new stuff every single month of the year. But no matter how much we say or how much we release there’s always going to be some folks disappointed that their favourite series or pet subject has not been tackled.

One of the strange peculiarities of this great forum of ours is the constant stream of ‘wants… desires… and must haves’ that K&C and other manufacturers are bombarded with on a daily basis.

Take the recent announcement and pix by Tony of K&C UK of his upcoming ‘Thin Red Line’… No sooner had these pictures been released than there was a clamour for ‘So what’s next?’

Hi guys, the ‘Thin Red Line’ is still a couple of months away from actually being available and the next release date is six months after that and already there is a poll for what should or might come next!!! Myself and Tony have already a good idea on what that will be and it’s not even on your poll.

Constant speculation and some pretty wild guesswork about any manufacturers future intentions also fails to take into account the fact that the vast majority of companies have also got a few ideas of their own as to what they might do… how they might do it and… when they will release it.

So it’s not that we’re trying to throw cold water on your imagination, it’s just that we want to inject a little dose of reality into the mix.
Hope you don’t mind but there it is…
Best wishes and… happy collecting!

Andy C.

Hi Andy thanks for posting. I will throw my hands up and admit to being a little over the top in the 'Whats next' dept:eek:.Will try and tone it down a bit!.I can imagine the constant lists etc must get a bit tiresome all the time, actually i'm really looking forward to the BR1 figures that were announced last month.I think we all get over excited now and again, one of the problems of being an 8yr old stuck in the body of a 43 yr old!;).Point taken though Andy

Cheers

The fact that K&C consistantly comes out with new products every month puts them heads above the competition.
One man's excitement may be another man's disappointment but K&C offers their followers concrete evidence that new products will continue to flow.
Anticipation can be a great marketing tool.

The popularity of various series will create more products in that venue if the "supply and demand" philosophy holds true.

There is no harm with suggestions and "wish lists" and remember your real input is in the dollars you spend.

All that said please keep the Napoleonics coming!:):)

Okay, so it's a December release that isn't in the poll. Hmmm.....but it's gonna be based around the Charge with only 3 or 4 figures..??
It can't be Cardigan riding over Nolans "Dead And Broken" body after the Charge cos we've already got Lord Cardie. Similarly, it can't be Florence N participating in the charge disguised as "Bob", cos "Bob out of Blackadder" wasn't there. Hmmm.....
Obvious innit..??
It's not Flatulent Flashy with a lower body posture similar to the one below, desperately attempting to surrender as the Charge gets to the guns.
Na096.jpg

Gottit - it's gonna be Raglan, Airey and a Flatulent Flashy with a lower body posture similar to the one above, and Nolan snatching the "Fateful Order" out of his hand - before embarking on his exhilerating ride to deliver the said Order.....much to The Bounder's relief.....

Correct..?? Of course I am.
Please send the winning cheque to H The H, c/o Charlatans Oil Production Company, Bangkok, Thailand.

If by any microscopic chance I'm wrong - then it must be 3 or 4 deid and dyin' horses with deid and dyin' cavalrymen.....Italian ones.....!!!!!
:):):rolleyes::rolleyes::eek:

Actually, it's going to be connected with the Charge, but not necessarily AT the Charge, and it's not in the poll - so it's my serious bet that it'll be a Christmas limited edition of "The Lady With The Lamp" providing the light while a junior nurse is tending a wounded 17th Lancer.....
Cheers

The Warbird poll was quite useful in getting Andy to think about making them again. Not necessarily determinative, but helpful.

They're also an organized way of getting people to express their suggestions, rather than just sequential posting.

They do have their place. You can always ignore them if you like.

I was thinking about this subject that Andy's is talking about of the "What's Next" mindset on my drive to the Gettysburg Show.

What I believe is we have TOO MUCH information these days - with the internet and especially this forum - we get up to date and future information on future K&C releases on a moments notice.

This information flow is so direct and current that you don't even realize that what have just seen last week isn't going to be released until another 30 - 45 and even 60 days later. The pictures are release (sometime I bet figures haven't even been packaged) and we wait, and wait, and wait - not realizing the information is a peek in the future, not the present.

The problem is we now know what's coming and are considering those release as OLD NEWS - and that is where the "Whats New" process begins. I have this problem in politics all the time - once the media knows something - it OLD NEWS.

Anyway - funny we are all think about this over the same weekend and of course tomorrow this will be old news too.

I guess we are all guilty of wanting more, more, more - when we should focus on whats out there now and buying it for our collections we have.

Anyway - Andy, I agree - guilty as charged  - I for one appreciate all the wonderful things K&C Produces and look forward to the Artist to work their magic in due time.

Agree , suggestions and polls are a lot of fun and while a lot of the ideas might not always be practical, they are usually interesting or informative and occasionally very imaginative.

well look at the recent older polls that i reposted from jazzeums original post, they seemed to be one of the most talked about thread all week, and they definitly got alot of feedback from forum members, so they are for the most part informative and creative...sammy

Nothing wrong with discussion & polls, or dream want lists, as long as one doesn't take it too seriously:). It is, after all a hobby, and one should remember that when your fantastic idea doesn't make it into production;). Lord knows if K&C produced all my request Andy would probably have to build a warehouse the size of a small country to house his unsold backstock:D. Here's to looking forward to another month of great releases and entertaining posts.

Not at all, and long overdue I'd say! Having been on the marketing side (in other industries), I can vouch for the fact that unscientifically conducted polls are basically worthless. If the research does not have a sound statistical basis its purely a shot in the dark.

Although K&C may be in the "toy/hobby" business, it is clearly a serious enterprise. Although I dont have any data behind it, I strongly suspect that failures are an all too frequent occurrence in the toy/hobby industry. Andy has done a truly amazing job building K&C into the leading metal toy figure company in the world. I think we should all trust that he will continue doing what his track record proves he can do better than anyone -- build a great array of diverse and highly desirable, unique and innovative products that offer good, long lasting value and are a pleasure to own.

I suspect if Andy desires our input, he will ask for it, either directly or through other methods. Now of course the best way to get a business person's attention is through sales. So becoming a very, very good customer of K&C will probably speak louder than any forum!

Is it me, or does anyone else just plain hate polls?

Well, I reckon they're a complete and utter waste of ****** time and effort.:eek:
Well, that is, unless they're about.....ITALIANS.....:):)

Only kidding. Polls are pretty harmless I would've thought and they provoke healthy discussion. Of course someone, somewhere, (including me), is always going to be looking for manufacturers to offer the said someone's pet subject. Sometimes it just might happen, but most times not, given that the same manufacturers tend to live in the real world - unlike some members of our happy little community, it would seem.

Well i think polls are harmless and stimulate debate about our favourite hobby. And i made specific point of stating that my poll was NOT a request to Andy in any form at all,i was just chatting thats all.

I think we're a smart bunch here and have a pretty good idea that these polls are meaningless but as stated above they are harmless fun that stimulates discussion and that is the whole point of a forum.

Conceptually a forum should be a place to freely exchange ideas and opinions, even unpopular ones, in a respectful manner. In other words the more people that contribute the better. Compare this with a Blog which generally is written by a single person or group and only expresses their view.

Personally the only posts that bother me are the ones where there are personal attacks on people.

I think you mean an 8 year old mentality with a 43 year olds' wallet!

I would think a forum like this, at least on a smaller scale would be free market analysis. The K & C thread is easily the most popular in here, while some of the posts are a wee bit over the top, in general I would think some analysis could be performed.
