Some Imperial pics (2 Viewers)

I've already shown these to Mike, but since it seems like this subforum needs some "action", I figured I would try to post some of these pics that I took recently.

First up, our family Imperial collection in two cases;

Ditto! I used to think I had a pretty impressive Imperial collection, but I think yours is at least twice as big as mine.

Thanks guys, though I can only take credit for the arrangement. My parents fell in love with Imperials back in the mid-Eighties and have collected one of every single set he made (or so we all thought until recently - **** "Officers and Men"), principally with the help of our friend Ron of London Bridge.

Here are a few more pics, not of the shelves, but of some individual sets. It is my intention to catalog every set there and these are some experimental shots for that purpose.

I would be interested in feedback on these. Do they look good enough for cataloging purposes or should I try a different approach?

I took several using white (sheet) backgrounds and I will post those if anyone wants to see them (mostly of set #11) but I like these with the leather background better.

Thanks in advance for your input. I will take some shelf shots when I do another session tomorrow.

A few more experimental shots;

First, two nearly identical shots. I like this first one because you can see the trooper's face (love those beady eyes!)

My wife likes this one better because the sword is not so blurry.

Finally, here is one where I focused on trying to highlight Cowe's shield painting skills.

It is hard to take detailed pics of Imperial Zulu sets because they are SO black.

The white seems to sap the colors of the figures or something. Also, it seems too much like everyone is playing in the snow...

Like Louis, I thought I had a pretty impressive collection of Imperial figures numbering 500 or so pieces. I must say that Drummond"s collection IS by far the best Imperial collection I have ever seen. It is not even close. My collection really stopped at the Crimean War and does not include the Town & Around civilians nor Napoleonics. Drummond's collection is virtually complete except for the afore mention Officers & Men sets. There are only only four sets in that series and I have an extra set of one of them for him. I am concerned about the Marines at Tripoli since I have only seen it once in Chicago (I bought it) since 1993 and never on eBay that I can recall.

Well, we decided to start with the Town and Around series in today's session. The Civil War guys are a few shelves below. I will get some pics up of those troops up soon.

We got about 1/3 to 1/2 of the T&A collection done today. The whole session, I was feeling abit like a fashion photographer...

I love the civilian series as does my father. I only have about a dozen or so. Mostly ones dealing with the kids or the animals.

I had the little boy running with the Union Jack, but I think I gave it to Shannon. Now I will probably buy it again as a gift for my little boy, because my son Alec loves Flags, and runs around with little flags all the time. I have a huge pre-WWII 46-star American Flag that came off a Navy ship (it came with my house, which I bought from a 93 year old retired Navy officer who bought my house in 1946 when he returned from serving in the Pacific theater during WWII) and my son points out the window to the flag pole in the front yard every morning yelling "a flag! a flag!" over and over again until I take him outside and let him "help" me put it up.

That 46-star U.S. flag would be pre-World War I! Arizona joined the Union in 1912. We had a 48-star flag until the late 1950s when Alaska and Hawaii joined the Union. Heck, I even remember when we added "under God" to the Pledge of Allegiance.

That is awesome!! I would go with the tan background for photos. I sent you an email. Per my past postings on this forum, I would love to figure out a way to do a catalog of the entire Imperial collection. Your family's collection seems like that would about cover it. I think we can figure out a way to get pictures of the few sets you guys don't have. I know a dealer in Virginia that should have those from his private collection.

I got your email and have replied. It is very excited to see all the positive feedback for this catalog idea. Even Mr. Cowe has offered his support and help.

Those Officers and Men sets are a bit of a pickle, but I believe we may have found a source for each of those sets. My fingers have been crossed ever since I heard about it. I will certainly keep you all posted.

You may have answered this but I think many of us would like to know how and how long you've been collecting Imperial. I know you made reference to the "family collection." Is this something your whole family has been doing? If so, how long. Forgive me if I'm being nosy but I think many of us are curious how you and/or your family accumulated this special collection.
