Ok, i'll say it for you. They're better than the Yank artillery. Much better. :)

I really like the way the shell jackets are hanging. And the thumb stall is amazing in its detail. When Zouaves or PA Bucktails are done. The detail will be amazing!!!!! I also saw the new Flag Bearer at John's shop in Gettysburg (Gettysburg Toy Soldier) and it looks amazing as well!!!!! Keep em coming!! Brad

Hi Brad,

I've read that Confederate soldiers frequently wore Union uniforms. With that in mind, would it be possible to mix the Yanks in with the Rebs in order to constitute a four-gun, Confederate battery? In looking at the Unions sets, it occurs to me that they might be too late in period, or simply too well "attired" to pull it off. Thoughts?

Although there were instances of confederates using Union pants and or shell jackets. It was not the norm. In fact if you view the existing period Photo's of confederate soldiers. Hagerstown, MD in 1862 during Antietam campaign and the famous pics taken in 1864 at the Punch bowl in VA. All are clearly not wearing union blue. The entire set would work with Gettysburg in my opinion. Although the derby hat is unusual. But possible.

As a side note. If you look at the harvest of death photo's from Gettysburg which are clearly Union dead. They all have they shell jackets and uniforms on. The only thing they are missing are shoes. So it appears the confederates scavenged the shoes, but no the uniforms.

To sum up. Wearing a Union uniform would have been the exception than the rule.

In my opinion this set is the best Civil War Artillery set out there and the facial sculpts are amazing!

Oh, and I goofed. The pics from the Antietam campaign were taken in Frederick MD. Not Hagerstown. :)

I like FL ACW figs and have quite a few including Union artillery. I generally like these two figs Brad has posted but think the "omnipresent patches" for ACW Rebs are over done in this case. Firstly, they seem to be identically placed on both figs and the patches themselves are identical. Secondly, I think they detract from the appearance. The eye is drawn to that visual cue. Just my opinion of course. Chris

Agree about the patches and the hole in each pant is in a similar position. But i am withholding judgement until i have them all and see how they look with 2 artillery pieces together. It might not be as apparent with 7 as a group

On closer look, it appears the same bottom half of the fig was used in both cases. Cost savings I guess. I can understand that, but FL could have at least covered the hole in the pants of one. :rolleyes2: Chris

I thought that might have been the case. But I checked it out last night and the hole in the pants is different. These are still the best out there.
