Okay, I have a confession, if there was only one military conflict I ever dreamed of making toy soldiers about, it is this one. Any time this movie came on when I was a kid it was almost an "event" for my dad, my brother, and myself. So sooner or later I had to try it. The unfinished sculpt is my "Gonville Bromhead", not nearly as dashing as Michael Caine of course. As for infantry detail purists, a couple notes, I have left off the "load-bearing" gear, as it just makes too many straps for me to mess with on sculpting and painting, and likely they weren't worn during the actual conflict. They are not shown in my reference work "Military uniforms of the 19th Century". Also, I did put the "regimental brass" on the helmet, as seen in the AWESOME 1964 film, though that's about the only place I've seen it. This is all supplemental to my standard "I make toy soldiers, not military miniatures" artistic license. So anyway, enough excuses. I hope to make this "Rorke's Drift" a long-term project, as the movie has always been one of my favorites. I'll update this thread as time goes by and I add new stuff.**oh yeah, I'll add bayonets to some future ones**

Thanks, Tom. I also like them sans paint. There used to be an old guy I'd see at festivals who sold miniatures. He would dip them in some type of solution which would leave darkened areas on the figure, giving them a great shading without paint. I can't recall what he used.

haha...no worries, Michael! The 7th Cav is in the works. I couldn't find my "skeleton" armature mold for my rider fig, so I had to start from scratch on those.
