Something a Little Different (1 Viewer)

This is "Christmas in Aldershot" series made by Soldier Centre 25 years ago and they still shine!
Sarum has tried to implement a similar idea in their sets recently and they did not come even close...
I was told that The Soldier Centre never made more then 10 sets :(

Martyn,

Wow, I had forgotten all about Wagons of Wood. He generally made wagons, as the name implies, but I think I remember seeing your set somewhere. Didn't he have a black & white magazine or newsletter in the 1990s?

I'm not sure, I believe I puchase the set from the owner of the company at the London Show back in the 1990's.

I've just spotted this sticker on the reverse of the box

I think I met him at the Chicago Show years ago. His name was something like Paulson.

Well Martyn, I have not seen them before but they are surely something different... I like an idea behind this set..:)

I think he's still around. I wonder if he will be at tomorrow's show.

Gentle Friends,

It has been a couple months since anyone posted something that was "a little different" on this thread. Perhaps it is time to show you something in my collection that I think delightfully qualifies as "something a little different."

I was hugely fortunate to have a good friend provide me with an excellent Christmas present. The gift introduces a new and refreshing element into my collection and I am extremely pleased to have it.

The gift is the Four Feathers set #FF22, Doctor Jekyll. The complete set depicts Doctor Jekyll in his laboratory. The set includes a backdrop of the laboratory, a table, a globe of the world, and many accessories that are placed on the table (lamp, microscope, beakers, bottles, scale, etc.). The figure of Doctor Jekyll is holding a goblet in his left hand as he contemplates consuming his elixer. His right hand rests on the table.

It might also be of interest to note that Four Feathers has produced a companion set to the Doctor Jekyll set, Mr. Hyde. It is possible another manufacturer has produced a Doctor Jekyll and Mr. Hyde set, but, if so, I am unaware of it. Consequently, not only do I think the Doctor Jekyll set is "something a little different," I think it is somewhat unique. I hope you enjoy viewing the set.

Warmest personal regards,

Pat :)

Happy New Year

Martyn:)

A beautiful set Pat, lots of detail especially on the table. What a fine addition to your collection.

Pat,
that is a very lovely, nice looking set.
Congratulations to this "little different" addition to your collection.
