A wounded soldier is received at a hospital in France by a member of Queen Alexandra's Imperial Military Nursing Service Reserve. The Reserve nurses were identified by their grey and scarlet capes. The title of my scene is from a WWI song published in 1917.

"Somewhere in France is the Lily,
Close by the English Rose"

In my interpretation of the scene, the Lily represents the French chateau serving as a military hospital where the young wounded soldier has been brought from the front by ambulance and the QAIMNSR nurse who will care for him is the English Rose.
