In 10mm scale, this is proving to be a challenge. When complete this will represent a reasonably accurate depiction of the Confederate Railroad Redoubt - Virginia Central R.R. at the South Anna River Bridge.
There are to my knowledge no photos of this earthwork, I have however, personally visited this redoubt (which is on private property) and the dimensions as recorded on the 1864 Confederate map are correct. The drawings however show no elevated rampart in the center of the works for artillery but it is there nontheless, I have walked upon it.
The figures are from GHQ, the fort walls and rampart are balsa wood, the base is styrofoam. The ground cover is celluclay and woodlands scenics products of various description.

Looks great Razorboy. Thanks for reproducing a little history for us. Please post morepics when it's finished.

Razorboy.

You are now speaking my language, I have read about these redoubts and if my memory serves me there were two in the area and am positive that somewhere amongst my books/files I have a picture or lithograph of one of them photographed or drawn a few years after the surrender.
When I have a spare year I'll try and hunt it out. But the model looks pretty good to me and very typical of a Reb earthwork.

Please Do Reb, I would love to see a picture, sketch, anything. I only live about 20 minutes from both of them but still don't have a wartime image of any kind.

Thanks,
