Southern States Free Slaves (1 Viewer)

I wish you all joy of the day! Now we are going in the right direction. Pray, do continue.:) :) :)

to stick to the original question.....

Gentlemen What would have happened if 4 million men were available to the South? Would that have turned the tide?

1. up until late in 1862, lincoln and the north would have accepted the south coming back to the union. this can be verified with his (lincolns) letters and many memoirs. they would have come back with concessions to the north and kept slavery.

2. slavery was fading fast in the rest of the world. england had turned up it's nose at it. 1888 saw the last of slavery ending in the western world. an educated person would have to assume that slavery would have ended in the south as peacefully as it did in brazil. no civil war. no later than 1888.

so what about the extra 4 million men again? no tide to turn. war was for preservation of union. check out any of the northern generals writings, grant included. union once and forever.
