This is an old article (2003) but it gives you an idea of the passions unleashed by the Spanish Civil War that were still evident at this late date. Following the restoration of democracy following Franco's death, the left and the right had a tacit understanding not to discuss these things or open investigations but this apparently changed.

The author of the article, Giles Tramlett, has written a book about his experiences, Ghosts of Spain: Travels Through Spain and Its Silent Past, which I have just started.

Its an interesting book. Not the usual history book but, if you expect it to be all about the civil war its not for you. I like how the bikini saved spain. Its an 'eye opener' if your interested in this country.

I thought he tried to cover too much and left some areas a bit weak but, on the whole its not bad.
Hope you enjoy it
