Hi All,

As I am preparing for my Spanish trip, I contacted several toy soldier makers and one of them replied me. He produces 45mm figures, has a huge range, works to commission only and is located just outside of Madrid.

His name is

Have a great trip. If you encounter any flea markets take a look as you may find some of the older figures from companies like Amiral I founds some like this in Barcelona and if you get a chance in the small city of Jaca there is a wonderful toy soldier museum in the Star shaped Napoleonic Fort. Great city and amazing sites!

The oui owner of Kronprinz was I incredibly personable when I was in Madrid a year ago. He delivered my order to my hotel and took me out for coffee.
Have you reached out to him?
Thanks
MikeNick

Hello Dave and MikeNick,

Thanks for your replies which are fully appreciated as this is my first trip to sunny Spain. I did do my homework and had already checked out Almiral, KronPrinz etc as they are already fairly well-known on this site.
I generally purchase model figure kits and accessories such as Andrea, Pegaso, Metal Modeles etc as I like to convert my own figures.

I've also checked out another well-stocked museum in Valencia. Looks very very good but
https://www.tripadvisor.com.sg/Show...Valencia_Province_of_Valencia_Valencian_.html

Unfortunately, I'll be bypassing Valencia.

I was given Senor Jose G Solana's contact by Senor Vicente Julia who had this beautiful website and these dioramas are so unique but

Unfortunately again, I'll be bypassing Lierena a small town near Badajoz. That's the nature of my itinerary which is chokeful of museum and cathedral visits.

I hope to make up for these disappointments with some books shops and other random toy soldier shops including model figures in Madrid and Barcelona.

Sanquez is another Spanish maker whose figures you might see. They are smaller, around 40 or 45mm, fully round, and of mainly Spanish subjects. The bases are marked wunderneath with "Sanquez" in raised script. I may be mistaken, but if you do a search of the forum, you might find some examples. I have only three, a trio of hussars, including a standard, presumably from a Spanish royal regiment. They're quaint, and if you run across any, I think they're worth picking up and adding to your collection.

Have a safe and enjoyable trip!

Prost!

Hi Mirof,

I believe that I had used your list to identify the possible toy soldier shops...:)

If you check them, not many actually have toy soldiers. Many are for kids and sell plastic kits as well.

I think only Jordi sells Andrea miniatures but the most promising for me is the Art Girona shop which sells a wide range of model figures. Hopefully they are open.

Hi Brad and Dave,

thanks. I hope to take some pics of any of these places and share with the forum when I get back.

You mentioned Badajoz. There is a small myseum with amazing scenes(I believe 28mm)of battles in the area of their War of Independence( Napoleonic Peninsular War) The diiramas were made by Badajoz resident Curro Agudo Mangas who is best known for amazing midel ships. I visited him in 2015 and it was very worth the detour.
Check him out in Facebook and google his name and "El Acoso del Santisima Trinidad". He built a scene of Trafalgar, in 1/48 scale, with several ships in battle. Simpky amazing. The scene has been displayed, but sadly it is not in a mseum, where it belongs. Saw the ships in his workshop.
The museum in Jaca is also worth a look. Have not seen the one in Valencia, but also sounds like worth a visit. Buen viaje!

Hi Egonzinc,

thanks for sharing those great videos.

I'll be bypassing Badajoz on a midnight bus from Lisbon to Seville. Unfortunately, that's my itinerary.

I do plan to visit a couple of military museums in Toledo, Madrid and a naval museum in Barcelona.
