That is from the painting "The defense of Champigny", November 30th, 1870 by the incredibly talented French artist Edouard Detaille.
I am a huge fan of his work and his paintings on the French Army, specificially the Franco Prussian War, are superb.
I had hoped Franco Prussian was to be the new K & C range, but that was not the case, I think it would be a huge success.
Imagine a set of figures depicting the French and Prussians slugging it out in the graveyard at Graval Saint Privat..........
