I recently spotted a K&C Special Forces Humvee for sale (thought it was on TF)...problem is I'm not sure where i had seen it. Anybody have an idea which site/s may still have these for sale?

ALSO: Still looking to buy SF02 (Bin Laden) set

Good luck with that one. I haven't seen that piece listed anywhere in a very long, long time.

I posted a picture on a report of the Texas Show, where I picked one up.

Did you get a good price on it?

They go on ebay when they do appear betwee 275 and 500. I have no idea what one would bring now, the prices are all over the place. I do know that not a ton were actually made.

$250 no box.

This has somewhat troubled me now, that we as collectors. has thrown away, the boxes that the miniatures came with (I have done it too).
And as this particular thread, having that box, Might have added at least another 100 dollars to the price.

I normally insist on boxes, but if it is a set that I haven't seen come up, then I just get it.

Good snag on the Humvee, box or not it was a great find.

Do not get me wrong, It was a great buy. I just wish, that everyone keeps the boxes. We us collectors love everything that this hobby has to offer. But for us to maybe say to ourselves, that we will never sell a particular piece. and we do not need the box. Is always premature. There might be a price that someone might offer, That we may be able to detach ourselves from that particular piece, and sell it. And it having the box, will bear a lot more than the market value.

I think keeping the boxes is vital. Even more so if a collectors partner is left with the collection due to the death of the collector. Seriously affects the value and makes it easier to sell and pack up. Also helps in identification for the partner.
I always advise collectors to keep the box but some can be a bit casual about it and throw the boxes away anyway.
If you have a decent collection it should be well documented and easy for partner to identify which is which.

Boxes are vital to the cataloging, that is for sure. Now, regarding older K&C boxes, most don't know that they were nothing but generic white cardboard with a sticker id'ng set number or a black stamp. Inside was styrofoam. On the humvee, it was pretty generic. I just picked up a FJ 1, same thing, no box, I rarely do this, but the price was right and it was mint to mint to NEW, really looked great. I have since "constructed" my own box for it.

Again, I think the boxes are vital and they do add value, but for those chasing very Old K&C, don't get too caught up by that, it is newer collectors that have a canary over it. They just don't realize that the old stuff vehicle wise came in ugly boxes.
