Have been failing to get a photo on the forum all day. Interwar years aviation was one of the last great periods of adventure in my humble opinion. Richard Branson does not quite cut it I'm afraid.

First post I've seen about the new racers. Quite a sharp looking aircraft. Nice get.:salute:: -- Al

Really nice plane by john Jenkins

This first Speedbird looks great, but it'll be interesting to see how collectors display it. My preference would likely be to put it on one of those wonderful Jenkins' stands. However, that would mean abandoning the very, very nice beaching-trolley that John made for it:

Decisions, decisions!:redface2:

Maybe this is John's initial foray into inter war aviation (other than the SCW issues).

A real looker, Jack.^&cool It strikes me that as fast as that plane must have been, it had to be a real bear to put down safely with the restricted forward vision over that very long nose. Must have been a blast when in the air, though.:wink2:^&grin -- Al

As more photos emerge it seems to me that this plane has an elusive cool factor.....I suspect people with no particular interest in either models or aviation would likely find this piece cool.
But that's not to suggest in any way that Jack himself is cool.....:wink2:

Ouch!!{sm4}

High Chaps

This is a very, very cool aircraft. I have it displayed on its trolley with the German hanger behind it. It looks amazing but unfortunately my display space is in need of some reorganisation. An embarrassment of riches I know. I will post some more photos after a little reorganisation, at the moment it shares the shelf with my daughters Flower Fairies by Wm Britain.

It would be great if John could some how make a representation of Calshot Castle the Martello Tower converted to a control tower. Think that may be asking slightly too much but if anyone can it would be John.

Cheers

Glynn

Very cool and original. I can't justify buying it due to space concerns, but I could see this one becoming a real collectors item since it likely will be made in very small numbers and not reproduced by any other manufacturer. A good investment.

Hi Jack,
How did you get the prop spinning pic?
Very impressive model.....Need to see it in the flesh though......Wonder what else will be released in this range?

Maybe see you at the show on Saturday? myself and Roy (Old Bill) are helping Clive Gande out on the Grey Goose stand (JJD bits).

Pete
Please introduce yourself....it would be great to chat to you?

I agree. It will be interesting to see where John goes with the interwar years. It it certainly one of my favorite periods of history, and these planes have a lot of nostalgia - not that I remember them personally. I also hope to see more WWI planes soon. Thanks for all of the great photos. This plane is growing on me...

I hate to provide this information in a thread where my coolness has been so rudely questioned but I lent the plane to my father. He photographed it and Mum flicked the propeller!

Hahaha, at least you came clean! Who needs photoshop when you have your Mum!! I think 'propeller flicking' is a dying art...

Not in my house. I can also provide engine and machine gun sound effects, though not both at the same time. But I don't do jet noise. :wink2: -- Al
