Do you make stable dios or not?

I make stable dios because it is hard to get a good coordinate action, and for me they are like paintings in 3D, and you can't change a painting. Seldom, I can add some pieces.But sometimes I change the positions of displays figures on the shelves.

every dio I make is permanent in terms of the structures etc on them though often I will build one and make the buildings separate so its easy to move and pack them. I never adhere figures to them as for me that is a waste and too restrictive.

Due to many limitations in the past, all my small dios and vignettes were dynamic, lasting a week, maybe two or so.

Finally, have the time and space to do what I have wanted to do for years. Make a "large STABLE" diorama .... consisting of many smaller (connected) dioramas. All the terrain features, roads, structures, foliage will be pretty much stable. Possible move a few trees and shrubs around as the need or desire strikes.

However, I would never secure the figures.
I guess :rolleyes2: I want to have a long story diorama that shows troops marching down a road, setting camp, preparing for battle, duking it out and more always changing and always with new ideas .... but that is just me!

A long story diorama with many different actions, what a great idea:salute::

I have one on the drawing board, basically a backdrop consisting of the doors to a stable, based on Ottenfeld's illustrations of the Austrian army in the Seven Years War, not so much a diorama as a display. But I don't think it's any harder or any easier to make a diorama of a stable than it is of any other subject. The same principles apply, as far as composing the scene and staging are concerned.
