A different little project to share this time. Bernard has acquired a 90mm Stadden figurine of an Ensign of the 3rd (East Kent) Regt of Foot (The Buffs) 1811 with the Regimental Colour. There was obviously a mishap as the right hand carrying the sword was missing in action! Now a very nice man has made a new hand and sword and soldered it place all that is now required is a repaint - hopefully to look like the 3rd photo.

Stay tuned…………

Jeff

Yo Jeff superb photo. What was so special about this model it was withdrawn. Chas was not obviously happy with this as you can see by the third photo, and re-issued the model with the Standard bearer's belt which is not on this model. Tell you what guys those who have asked Jeff to take photo's at the London show you are in for a treat he takes brilliant photo's, wish I could get mine as good.
Bernard.

Hmmm...toughest part will be matching the color of the tunic, or providing a good transition, like camoflaging it as a highlight or shadow.

Like watching a championship golfer lining up his putt-(in my announcer's whisper)--let's see how Jeff approaches this one.....

Yo Troopers, this is a better photo for Jeff the other I sent has blurred. This was the re-issue model with the standard bearer's belt. Triva question what is the Gold thing on the waist line of the model Jeff is going to paint the hand. Two people are barred from entering you know who you are:p.
Bernard.

Ouch! :p

Got to say, that the detail on that new sword is top class. Look forward to seeing you paint this up (in any colour other than green!)

Simon,

The sword is made from tinned brass and has some neat engraving, so the plan is just to give it a coat of clear varnish.

This may have been my plan but Bernard has asked that the sword is painted in silver as the original one would have been - so here it is - I hope the join is not that obvious  I also touched up the base here and there.

Yo Jeff, which hand was it you painted again:rolleyes: its real:cool: you never ever told me what the engraving said, hope the guy who made the sword doesnt rip my head off:eek: Is the post Office still open:D. A real good Job mate very pleased with it the join looks OK as does the paint match.
Bernard.

BTW Brad you got the triva right, the gold piece on the waist is a watch fob.

It said "Do not cover me in silver paint!" :D

It looks better than the photos - actually I'm quite pleased with the way it turned out

Jeff

Very nice Jeff, you are a dab hand at matching paint colours.

A great figure for your collection Bernard.

Yo Troopers, Couldn't you just throw up some days. As you see below had a hand & sword made for the withdrawn Chas model of the 3rd East Kent Ensign. Then today gets the re-issue model I bought with the two cross belts for carrying the flag and as you see by photo another job for the Surgeon General:mad:. Came with hardly any bubble wrapped around it, what is the problem with some of ebay sellers minus brain cells. But as you can see the two Sergeants of the 31st Regt of Foot I bought arrived OK. Notice the difference in the flag position. Putting one up for sale later on ebay, it just worked out that I had to take the two bid on both to make sure I got one. Its one of the best Chas models in the Catalogue.:D.
Bernard.
